MuchMoreMusic's Listed best album in last 25 years

Tomorrow night they gonna count down the top 20 best albums of the last 25 years. Purple Rain IMO, should rank in the top 3. It's probably the most artistically AND commercially successful albums of all time. I'd be pissed if it's even listed at #4!

This lists are usually pretty lame, I'm going to guess it won't be on that list. These are some of the albums that will probably beat it:

Metallica - whatever their first one was
U2 - Maybe Joshua Tree, or some other album that sounds the same as Joshua Tree
Michael Jackson - Thriller, obviously
Nirvana - Nevermind, obviously. It's mandatory for every list
3 New lame artists - They have to make it seem like new music doesn't suck, so expect Nickelback or some shit to pop up. Plus, the Canadian twist will be appealing for MMM
Bruce Springsteen - Do I even need to mention him?

Frankly, I usually prefer when Prince doesn't make these lists. It's much easier to swallow him being overlooked then when he ranks in the bottom end of them, as he usually does.

...or that rock as an innovative art form isn't long dead in the water. It's PR pressure from big labels to maintain their business.

Prince hardly ever make the Listed lists anyway. There was a top 20 bad boys of rock list. he wasn't even on it! He made #3 or 4 on the best of the 80s list, but that's about it. He should have also been on the most extreme transformation list... from sex-fiend to jehovah's witness... but again, no mention. ah well. But I do think Purple Rain should definitely be on the list... I mean, how many albums have won both grammy and oscar?

HAHA!! What'd I tell ya! smile

Wasn't that hard to predict though.

On my list of most overrated albums, Nevermind would get top honours, so this list and mine have something in common.

Actually, Thriller would probably get #2!! smile

I agree, prince is never given proper credit by these types of contests. If he did, he'd be a dominating force on them probably. I've seen top 100 guitarists lists that don't mention him when anyone knows he's arguably the best now living. The problem with Prince is he is just so damned quirky that people tend to just not want to think to hard about him so they just ignore him.
