>>ONLINE PREMIERE: PRINCE'S "CINNAMON GIRL"
Hot as ever, Prince delivers his catchiest song in years and an ultra-creative, eye-popping video to boot << I think AOL uped them on that online Premiere thing 2 weeks ago. and "catchiest song in years" - according to whom ??

ok, so i've now watched the video three times and i guess i just don't like it. i think its a very sloppy story that takes no real direction. i don't understand the turn from sympathetic girl to airport villain. i know she doesn't do it in the end but i don't understand how she gets to that point in the first place. am i missing some pivotal story twist?

I haven't seen the video yet but from what I'm reading I'm confused as well. Or is she dreaming?

maybe. in some round about way, prince is saying that we can be either part of the problem or part of the solution. i think its a great video right up until the little girl turns into a possible terrorist. he loses me there.

i thought the idea of the video is, "if enough people tell you you're something, you start to believe that's what you might be." maybe prince wasn't painting with a broad enough brush when he conceptualized this sucker.

it's a visually pleasing video. nicely done, artsy. i'm a little unclear about the message .. it seems to be: if we label people terrorists and they aren't terrorists then their feelings are hurt and they fantasize about being terorrists"
but i'm told that prince wasn't trying for a big statement so i forgive him for not closing the vid by having the heroine (of the video) join forces with a jewish boy to stop the bomb from going off despite the emotional scars they bear from the religious/racial/social prejudice they both faced in america. ..

if that's what he was going for it is absolutely moronic, lol. people don't become terrorists because they are prejudiced against. somehow, though, i think you may be right about this being the meaning behind the video.

If you tell someone their dumb enough times they believe. Killing Iraq civillians destroying scared buildings and trying to run their country is only going to drive 10 more nuts everyday to join terrorist networks. I think that is what he trying to say in the video.
