Wow -- it's amazing how many votes The Black Album is getting. To each their own, but it's one of my favorite Prince albums.

For me, the worst album of the 1980s was Lovesexy, and the worst of the 1990s was New Power Soul. Between the two, NPS has earned my vote as the worst.

Naw, Batman is funky!!!!! And I can't believe someone said Parade eek . Just when you think something is common fact... Anyway I don't even know how anyone could come to the conclusion Parade was Prince's worst album of the 80's.
I'm an org elitist... totally unapproachable.

Because of two songs....."Sometimes It Snows In April" which reminds me of folk music (yuk!), and "Do U Lie" which sounds like classical (yuk!). In the movie "Under The Cherry Moon", the old man is snoring on "Do U Lie"....I can see why. lol "Mountains" was listenable but it was not that great either.

"Parade" as a whole was too weird and spaced out, except for "Kiss" (the opening single that fooled everyone into thinking the "old Prince" was back). "Around The World In A Day" was different and I eventually grew to love it over the years, but "Parade" was the album that said Prince was gone on a weird trip and was never coming back. "Parade" has its moments though, with "Girls and Boys", "New Position", and "Anotherloverholenyohead" which are great songs but weak in comparison to his earlier work.

Worst 90s: New Power Soul (it too has some saving graces)

Worst overall: New Power Soul

4 me it's Emancipation in the 90ies (especially the boring 2nd disc)
and hummmm.....not easy 4 the 80ies..but I think it's Batman. 2 much popular music 4 Prince. But it got it's moments

You aren't allowed to say anything else to this thread than "Batman" for the 80s and "Newpower Soul" for the 90s. That's not even a matter of personal opinion, it's just a fact . Everybody in the Prince camp knows it!

The truth has been spoken. Now someone lock this thread quickly!

How can anyone say Dirty Mind for chrissakes? That was the ultimate new wave-funk experience.

And friggin' Parade is a masterpiece! It was a natural evolution from Around The World In A Day with it's classical inspired soundscapes and psychedelic leanings. To like one and not the other doesn't make sense.

The worst 80's album is Controversy, and worst in the 90's was Rave, I'd say Rave, because the 80's at least had artistic consistency.

Frankly, you're a tasteless mentalist. I'd write an eyeball food 3000 word essay on Parade's greatness, but it'd be wasted on you. You just don't 'get' Prince, andy.

WTF???

Calling out the Black Album?

One of his best, anyone who speaks of it as the worst should grow an ear.

Worst album of the 80s if it is the 80s is Bman album. 90s is an even draw with every album released.

2000 decade, Musicology is best. Lets hope he gets better.

vs.
Worst 1990s album: "New Power Soul"

Worst of the two decades: "New Power Soul"

I can't BELIEVE you think "Parade" is his worst 80's album. LOL..that's funny. How bout Batman being the worst 80's album.

Worst 90's: I think I blocked all of them out. Graff Bridge had it's good moments.

Taste is a matter of opinion. You like jazz, I don't. "It's time for a new direction, it's time for jazz to die, 4th day of November, we need a purple high."
