Prince has no doubt made shit loads of enemies in the past, but you never see anyone selling Prince memorabilia because of "the lies and deceipt". Doesnt everyone have to sign away their lives pretty much to join the Prince crew? I don't think it's a hoax. I'm sure Damon got the gold record, because he was part of the NPG (more people than the artist get the gold records), so it's likely his property to sell or do whatever he wants with it. I don't know if Prince's legal team could do anything about this, Damon doesn't come right out and diss Prince personally by name. But, I think Damon is trying to make a point as much as he is actually trying to sell the item-if not more (though I am sure he would be very happy to sell it at that price). Clearly from the item description, that's one bitter dude, and he wants the world to know it. That high starting bid is clearly an attention grabber. S [Edited 10/5/04 7:35am]  If Damon needs to sell these items - fine. They're probably his to do whatever he wishes with. But - despite his claim that his comments aren't aimed at Prince - who else would he expect us to think he's referring to??? It's not as if he's well-known for working with anyone else.
It just reminds me of when you see couples bickering in public - I never understand why people love airing their 'dirty laundry'. Beats me. 
Incidentally, does anyone remember Prince clamping down on something like this a few years back?? I'm sure I remember Prince halting the sale of one of his Nude Tour coats at an auction. | |
