If I could delete on Prince work from history, it would be the movie "Purple Rain". It's a wonderful movie but if it had not been so successful, Prince could not have afforded to change his musical style with "Around The World In A Day".

Yes, I'd lump the album and film together. Grafitti Bridge was the first Prince album I had bought on the day of release after getting into him in '88. Nowhere near as exciting as discovering the back catalogue over the previous year.

Graffiti Bridge- the Movie. I can listen to the album, but the movie is horrible.

The albums post 2000 are a return to higher standards in my opinion though. TRC, Musicology, ONA Live, Xpectation & NEWS are all the bomb to me...

TRC attepted to combine elevator music, funk and obscure and strangly rigid theology. The result was about as interesting and untalented as William Shatner doing a poetry reading of the phone book.

Hard choice but in the end I go with Rainbow Children...some albums sound like"the beginning of the end" but this one sounded like "the end of the end". It was almost unrecognizable as a Prince album to me...so esoteric and preachy and unfunky. I almost gave up hope after it and didn't even buy NEWS. But, like always, the man had a surprise up his sleeve...Musicology while not a great album showed some flashes of Prince brilliance.

Everything after Parade til the Batman soundtrack then everything after that until the Musicology tour.
