Chocolate Invasion......his best post 1990's?? In my opinion....this should have been released as its own CD. The music here is fresh and fonky!!! Sex Me, Sex Me Not, is by far his fonkiest jam that has dropped in a while. To those who have this gem, please comment and leave feedback!!!! Peace.... The bulk of Choco Invaso sounds like a bunch of NPS/Rave outtakes to me. He did the right thing by keeping them as downloads. They're nice to have, but they really don't make a proper album, IMO.

Goodness will this be the last time I comment on this???
I really like this album. ANd the slaughterhouse. I feel that there are some real overlooked gems on both of these. My take is that Musicology was for the casual fan and the other two for the real fans. I agree this should have been released on CD with the rest of the downloads. my favs from the 2 are When I lay my hands on U Judas smile Supercute High Vavoom U make my sunshineIn Silicon S&M groove Peace 2045 Radical man Daisy Chain Christian Zombie Vampires

I love Chocolate Invasion, ilisten to it almost daily. Starting to get into Slaughterhouse. Both are better than Musicology.

Chocolate Invasion is great. Musicology is a good release. Slaughterhouse is 80% album fillers.
TCI's best titles are The Dance (better than Soul Sanctuary) Judas Smile and Supercute are catchy and stick in your head Vavoom is absolute greatness. His vocals and background guitar standout. Im not gonna describe the rest because that would get boring. Basically, I love this album and think its one of the best things hes put out since TGE (Insert something clever here)

musicology is better for mass consumption.there are some hits,in my opinion,if radio gave him the spins.I still firmly believe that "vavoom" is a hit single.I see p in a really flashy vid. He'd have ona fire red outfit and a red guitar..they'd show him ona stage alone rocking, but have cuts to some really hot women dancing on a beach..then a funny scene of p drivinga red car really fast and crashing it into a club and running up ona girl in the club.he dances with her, kisses her, then they cut to him on stage again.flames and explaosions everywhere.then p asks her for her car keys ..she reluctantly gives them to him.theyd rive fast to her beachfront crib and he crashes into the bushes.she looks at himas if she 's about to curse him out,but he shtrugs his shoulders and she starts laughing and she jumps onto him and they fall out of the car onto the drive way.the camera shows his hands creeping down her back ..va-va-voom!..end of vid. There are a few great tracks, but for the most, fresh is not a word I would use!
Some of the tracks are Prince at his most unavdventurous to date. He can do tracks like Northside and Sex me baby in his sleep. He doesn't need to commit them to record. Boring failed attempts at old school. The few gems are things like When I lay my hands, Vavoom and My Medallion. At least he's trying to do something different there. I firmly believe he knows they are below par, and thats why he never committed them to CD. TRC and Musicology are superior in every way. As for Sex Me Baby, Sex me not, That song irritates the hell out of me. It sounds like it could be written by a 10 year old, and it sounds like he has computer battleships playing in the background the entire song. A large amount of tracks were destined for The next NPG album, and as a follow up to NPS, he knew he was on a downward slope! .

I don't have too much beef with these tracks, it's just the production of the Emancipation-NPGMC Year One era is really not enjoyable.
There's an all pervaiding 'quality' to the production that is just off-putting for me. I thought after TRC he had gone past it, but bang, we get Musicology and stuff like ICP&C which is more of the same. Much of TCI, Emancipation, NPS are great tracks, or they could be if it wasn't for the production. I do think TCI is the best of a bad bunch - Judas Smile and When I Lay My Hands On U shit all over anything on Musicology.

What is on Slaughterhouse? I was going through a "Bored of Prince" period at the time and never bothered for a while....

For those who don't know the tracklists to Choc. Invasion and Slaughterhouse - go look them up on the Musicology store over at NPGMC.

A large amount of tracks were destined for The next NPG album, and as a follow up to NPS, he knew he was on a downward slope! I disagree. I find them quite adventurous. He had nothjing to prove with them. Most of the music on there is not that accessable...but in a good Prince way. I almost think of them as the outtakes for that period. I think there is more filler than on Musicology. But nothing on Musicology gives me the tingles like TCI or Slaughterhouse do. Sure SMSMN and Northside aren't too adventurous (though Northside got them shakin it at a Prince party I threw last week.) ...and aren't his best. But there are certainly others that are purple gems! There's maybe one...or two that are on Musicology that can hold a candle to some of these tracks. IMO Christian Zombie Vampires

I think The Chocolate Invasion could have been released as a real album, cause it's right up there with, 4 example, Musicology, less commercial though.
When I Lay My Hands On U, Supercute, Underneath The Cream and The Dance are my favourites. It doesn't come close to The Rainbow Children, so that's his best post 90's album to me. But there are more great tracks on the npgmusicclub, like Silver Tongue, I love that song!!

I just downloaded and listened to Chocolate Invasion for the first time. You took the words right out of my mouth. I guess it's worth $7.77, but it doesn't compare to Musicology at all.

I just got to downloading and getting TCI a few weeks ago and am really enjoying this set. I made my own version by omitting U Make My Sunshine (which I have owned/heard for a couple years) and replaced it with United States of Division. A really tight set. I feel this could stand on ts own as a real release and be successful esp if Vavoom was released to radio.
It is definatly edgier and funkier than Musicology . Musicology although a solid album is basicly Prince-lite. Best post 1990's? Nope that still belongs to The Gold Experience in my book . But for sure top 3 . Jadas Smile , Sexme Sexmenot, High--too funky. High would be perfect if not for Prince referring to himself in the 3rd person...does this bother anyone else besides me ? i have only heard a few tracks from these works, because i am not a member of the npgmc. i am far 2 poor to go into debt, just cause prince won't take a friggin check that's not the point though. in my opinion, trc is his best post 90s work. tge is beautiful and bangin, but since it came out in the 90s, it cannot be considered a post 90s album, post meaning after.

Just my opinion, but I can't get into either Chocolate Invasion or Slaughterhouse. I do agree with whoever said that they sound like New Power Soul or Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic outtakes. I don't know how to describe it but they sound kind of...plastic? I think that both the songs and production on Musicology are much better.
Also, I have to say that the Rainbow Children is also much better than Chocolate Invasion. I'm not a huge fan of big parts of Rainbow Children, but the highs are much higher than Chocolate Invasion and the production, to these ears, is much stronger.
