Probably people who "look" like "terrorists" (seems to me the point of the vid didn't come across well...)

can't ANYONE read??!

scroll back up...THIS ENTIRE THREAD IS BASED ON EITHER A LIE, FABRICATION, OR MISUNDERSTANDING...

Not only can NO ONE provide ANY proof of this supposed MTV News report from MTV Holland -- but MTV USA itself claims to not have even screened the video yet.

Also, much of this thread includes rantings & ravings about MTV controlling all the video channels, and MuchMusic controlling Fuse (the one major non-MTV controlled in the US) -- but most of THAT info is incorrect as well.

THIS VIDEO HAS NOT BEEN BANNED OR CENSORED IN THE U.S. -- at least not yet... and as long as Prince is allowed to show it on his site, that's not CENSORSHIP -- Censorship would be if the Government got involved and made it ILLEGAL to screen anywhere...

SHOULD MTV, VH1, MTV2, BET, FUSE, etc. pass on the clip -- that is NOT censorship... That's their prerogative. Having seen the clip, I wouldn't be surprised if some of them choose NOT to air it -- but i'm sure at least one of them will...

we will have to wait & see...

PLEASE enlightenment me...what IS IT, then? Their prerogative? No. Refusing to show a clip on the grounds of controversy is CENSORSHIP.

My apologies...I can read, but I admit I skimmed this thread, because it would be just typical for the U.S. to ban something like this. If it does get banned, it furthers my belief that the U.S. is not really a free country at all.

UGH! You just don't get it do you?

The U.S. -- the UNITED STATES is NOT banning any Prince videos!! LOLOLOL

MTV's decisions are controlled by the GOVERNMENT! You don't actually mean that, do you?

EVERY SINGLE PERSON IN THE UNITED STATES IS FREE TO WATCH THIS VIDEO whether a specific company or channel CHOOSES not to play it!

and YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHETHER ANYONE HAS "REFUSED" TO SHOW IT YET!!!!

Do you have any idea how videos get chosen for air on MTV and other video channels? Do you know how many videos they PASS on? Are ALL those videos & artists victims of "Censorship" as well????

Where on earth does it say the MTV, VH1, MTV2, FUSE, BET, MUCHMUSIC, CHANNEL V, etc. are REQUIRED to play EVERY VIDEO submitted to them????

talking about EVERY video is ridiculous. Prince is a MAJOR artist and if his video does indeed get banned it speaks volumes about how prudish the American media is not to air a video simply because it sends a message of how many people in America view people from other nations.

to answer your question, any video that is passed on because of "controversial" content is INDEED a victim of censorship. America LOVES to censor and if you can't see that then YOU are a victim of it as well.

Prince is not a current major artist. He is a legendary artist... but what about all his videos MTV or other outlets don't play?? Were they "censored" as well?

Don't you see it's entirely possible for this video to passed on NOT because of the content but just because the artist doesn't appeal to the current viewers?

MTV USA doesn't really throw much support behind artists like Prince, Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, Sting, or even Madonna so much anymore...

and more importantly -- this whole thread is about "the US" censoring "Cinnamon Girl" -- which IS NOT TRUE. Did MTV ever play Prince's last clip? Was that "censored" too?

no, but it is TYPICAL that an American COMPANY like MTV would want to BAN such informative material.

EVERY SINGLE PERSON IN THE UNITED STATES IS FREE TO WATCH THIS VIDEO whether a specific company or channel CHOOSES not to play it!

That may be true, but MTV is a large influence on the American consumer and for it to CENSOR ANY SONG for such content is very typical of the nature of the prudish U.S. media.

do you SERIOUSLY buy that? Why then were Musicology and Call My Name played on MTV and NOT Cinnamon Girl? All of a sudden it's 'cause they don't think people will dig it? Bullshit. Prince IS a MAJOR artist with his current "comeback". If they refuse to play it, it's OBVIOUSLY outright censorship. You're very naive, my friend.

Naive?? You're the one talking about a "comeback" based almost entirely on great concert reviews & good press -- but primarily on the inflated chart figures by giving the album away for free on tour!

if you can't see that Prince is more popular now than in the past 10 years then it's a sorry story.

and by the way, learn how to quote...you look like an idiot.

WAKE UP!

I have NOT missed ANY point! YOU JUST PROVED YOUR OWN THEORY TO BE WRONG!

Yes, MTV accepted & played "Musicology" a bit -- but I don't think "Call My Name" was EVER on MTV -- therefore, IF they pass on "Cinnamon Girl" HOW ON EARTH DOES THAT PROVE ANY SORT OF BANNING OR CENSORSHIP?????

why is it that SO many people on this board (& this thread) CANNOT accept when they are MISTAKEN?

take a look in the mirror, man.

that Call My Name was or was not played on MTV is a moot point. Cinnamon Girl is a much more controversial video. why don't you just chill out on this...no one knows for sure if it's been BANNED yet or not...

all i'm saying is that if it is BANNED (read: more than just "passed on", ie, CENSORED) then it will be VERY TYPICAL.

Well well well...

Looks like either MTV Holland was completely mistaken...or maybe it just never ever aired as a news story AT ALL.

According to AP & Billboard, MTV USA will begin airing Prince's "Cinnamon Girl" video next week.

I.
KNEW.
IT.

HAAAAA

Scrolling back through this thread & seeing how so many of you reacted to an entirely FALSE story is hysterical. Fools....blindly believing some made up trash.

you're really pathetic.

First you trash MTV USA for something you cannot prove was EVER broadcast by MTV Holland. NOT A SINGLE PERSON ON THIS THREAD OR ANY OTHERS -- OR AT ANY OTHER SITE -- can offer up ANY FACTUAL INFORMATION regarding what YOU posted at the top of this thread.

Then you can't handle it when you are called out by me on that.

Now -- you sheepishly try to flip it around back to an MTV insult.

ADMIT IT. YOU WERE WRONG.

The video WILL air on MTV in the states -- and instead of being happy about it -- you have to find SOME desperate way to hurl another insult. LOLOLOLOL

Havent read too many of the posts but i dont think MTV supports Prince anymore.

First off, Prince is always stating how they play crap music on that channel (which is true)

And when he sang "Kiss" on MuchMoreMusic in Canada one of the lines was "you don't have to watch MTV, to have an attitude"

SO any little error or whatnot in P's videos will cause MTV to ban it.

MTV is trash now in days anyways, who cares. We'll get the video on DVD hopefully and we can watch it all day.

So?
It's a fact they reported it... And if you don't believe it, well, people who saw the report know better and you'll stay clueless as ever jacking off to your MTV...

Then you can't handle it when you are called out by me on that.

Still not grasping the English language I see... You didn't call me out on anything, I couldn't give two shits about you or your obsession with MTV, go blame them for reporting it, instead of attacking people you stinkin' n00b...

Now -- you sheepishly try to flip it around back to an MTV insult.

An insult to you and the thruth for people who know better...

ADMIT IT. YOU WERE WRONG.

LMMFBAO! Nope... Your precious MTV was, accept it...

The video WILL air on MTV in the states -- and instead of being happy about it -- you have to find SOME desperate way to hurl another insult. LOLOLOLOL

And you are calling people pathetic?! You're a joke man... (You were the one insulting people... I didn't insult anyone or anything with my initial post...)
I don't know what you are trying or getting at but it isn't working, you're just making an ass out of yourself...
Or are you just really dumb? Well, you worked for MTV so...
Considering they're spreading these so called lies you try to pin on other people it's pretty obvious who the fucking retard here really is...
Now go read a book and learn some English you pathetic n00b...

MTV and MTV News NEVER EVER reported ANY SUCH THING. Go to mtvnews.com and search Prince -- you'll find all their recent stories & headlines and not a peep re: "Cinnamon Girl".

To be honest Dub. you came on this thread with that post and that kinda set it off. I mean was there any reason to call anyone a moron. and you did not ask anyone for proof in that post either. So YOU kinda set the tone from that point forward.
