HAAAAA MTV HOLLAND!?!?! I thought you were referring to the ACTUAL legitimate fact-checking MTV News here in the states. Like most "News" from the British tabloids, over the years, I've noticed much of what's "reported" on MTV outside the U.S. (that's not generated by MTV NEWS in the U.S.) is likely a bunch of HORSESH*T.

Has "Cinnamon Girl" even been submitted to MTV in the U.S. yet? And if it has, maybe they just don't wanna play it because their audience just isn't into Prince? They played "Musicology" and no one really cared...

Also -- IF you did indeed hear this on MTV Holland -- who did it come from? Some VJ just chatting? Or was it an actual News report with facts to back it up? You do know most VJ segments are just ad-libbed and are not researched or fact-checked. This applies to MTV VJ's all over the world -- including the states. I wouldn't believe it unless it came from MTV NEWS in the U.S. -- and therefore, it would be on mtvnews.com...

nod Agreed. That action in the video sealed the deal. For the fact that it controversial and made around the Presidential Elections, the video won't see the light of day in the US.

As a matter of fact, not only am I well aware of how videos get into rotation on MTV, but I'm also well aware of how often people claim MTV "reported" something when in fact, they did not. I worked at MTV News for nearly 15 years and not only heard & read tons of factually incorrect accusations like your own -- but am also well aware that things "reported" on MTV outside the US do not neccessarily get the same fact-checking they do here in the states.

When exactly did you hear this item "reported" on MTV Holland? Was it a news program? Was it a VJ segment? Whose mouth did the words come from? Perhaps you could provide a SINGLE piece of evidence suggesting you didn't just MAKE THIS UP to stir up trouble...

Also -- just FYI -- as long as it's still LEGAL for someone, anywhere, to screen this video (i.e. Prince's own website) -- this video is not "BANNED".

If MTV or BET or another channel CHOOSES not to air it -- they are not BANNING anything -- this is the definition of "ban":

2 : to prohibit especially by legal means ; also : to prohibit the use, performance, or distribution of

IF
MTV were to pass on this clip, they are NOT prohibiting the use, performance or distribution of the clip. There are TONS of other places to see it. AOL, Launch, Fuse, BET, VH1, etc....

WOW so someone else posted something they "heard" on MTV on another board. IT MUST BE TRUE! LOLOLOLOL

Is the actual program you heard this on entitled "MTV NEWS"? Just curious. You still haven't answered my question re: who the host/presenter was when you saw this story broadcast.

This is what I found on the MTV Holland/MTV News site:
PRINCE FANS WOEDEND
4 oktober 2004 - Prince haalt zich de woede van zijn fans op de hals door advocaten opdracht te geven de grootste zijn grootste fansite aan te pakken. Hij is het niet eens met discussies op de site over zijn materiaal. So far for freedom of speach!

This has NOTHING to do with the Cinnamon Girl video. Interesting they'd post this story on October 4, but not include any mention -- or have any other stories re: Prince. PERHAPS THEY NEVER REPORTED IT?

STOP PERPETUATING LIES.

If the video not aired on MTV it won't be aired on the others(VH1,BET). Those stations are all owned by MTV Networks. As for AOL,Launchcast/Yahoo, they are internet enterprises. WRONG WRONG WRONG. Please get your facts straight people!

First -- Yes MTV, VH1, BET, MTV2, etc. are indeed all owned by the same company... but there have been PLENTY of instances of MTV passing on a clip that VH1 or BET adds to their playlists. MANY MANY TIMES. Just because MTV passes on a clip doesn't mean BET or VH1 cannot decide to air it on their own.

Also -- Fuse is NOT owned by MuchMusic. It is owned by Cablevision & Rainbow Media -- who apparently merely liscensed the MuchMusic name to launch MuchMusicUSA a few years back (which later relaunched as Fuse.) The FUSE playlist has NOTHING to do with MuchMusic. FUSE does NOT follow the lead of MTV -- same goes for VH1 & BET.

Please stop jumping to conclusions & repeating & perpetuating the lies & speculation of a few...

Frankly, I could give 2 shits about MTV Networks and Fuse. Both of them suck as far as I am concerned b/c their are too juvenile. So, you need to stop your bitching. The only channels that I can tolerate to watch is maybe BET and VH1 Classics.

I saw it coming. MTV had to put one of thier clones on here to defend themselves. Between HQ and us, the buzz was too much for them to take.

Just b/c you are fucking cheerleader for MTV Networks does not mean that everybody should share you views. People are going to beleive what they want about MTV regardless of your ranting. So, you need to give it a fucking rest .

Isn't Green Day number one with 'American Idiot'?! I'm surprised the government didn't force them to change it to 'America is great and everything is fine' just in case someone somewhere was offended that some Americans might be seen as 'idiots'.

Typically in the UK, if you ban a song, it goes to number one on the notoriety alone. Not sure if that would be true if only the video was banned...

This may sound crazy, but I think it's cool when MTV bans certain videos by my favorite artists. It creates a huge "buzz" and generates alot of controversy. As a longtime Madonna fan,I'm used to this...lol....she's had several videos that were banned,or pulled from release ("American Life").And now for the first time in years,Prince has a video that's gonna generate alot of controversy.People will wanna see it just to find out what all the commotion is about. In the end, this could benefit Prince.

I'd be happen to send you my CV, Business Card, and an email from old staff email account if you need any further proof.

...are you just a fucking retard?

um, you're the one going apeshit just because someone else has merely asked for some proof on a story you simply cannot back up with a single fact.

Yeah that's why other people have seen the same report... Just because YOU haven't seen it doesn't mean it was never reported you pretentious n00b...

[/quote]

I'd be happy to complain to MTV Holland about an erroneous report, IF I HAD ANY PROOF OF ANY SINGLE PIECE OF INFORMATION REGARDING WHEN IT WAS BROADCAST. I asked you what show you saw it on because here in the states, there is no show titled "MTV News", Here where MTV started, MTV News is the name of an entire division of the company. Specific programs have specific names. As you never specified MTV Holland in your first post, I assumed you meant MTV proper. Now that that's cleared up, I'm asking for ANY OTHER INFORMATION: the host, what day you saw the report, what time it was on ---- ANYTHING ELSE TO PROVE YOURSELF.

If you are so sure of yourself, and want everyone to believe you (so much that you'll continue to post angry insulting responses rather than actually answer my questions) why can't you provide any additional information?

I have clearly taken the time to research your accusations, and cannot find ANYTHING except some random gossip posted by the likes of you -- NOTHING on MTV's site, nothing on MTV Holland's site, NOTHING at the MTV News section on MTV Holland's site.

You just want to take an opportunity to bash MTV in the states, and perhaps Americans' themselves -- instead of accepting the fact that:

a) the video may not have even been submitted to MTV in the states yet.
b) MTV might just pass on it because Prince is no longer a relevant artist to their current audience.
c) they may have indeed passed on it for reasons you suggest, but you cannot back that statement up with a single ounce of proof.

Why am I attacked as being the pretentious know-it-all when we are all to blindly accept your initial post?

YOU CAME ON HERE TO SPREAD THE "NEWS" THAT THIS VIDEO WAS BANNED IN THE U.S. YET IT HASN'T EVEN BEEN SUBMITTED TO ALL THE VIDEO OUTLETS IN THE COUNTRY YET -- Either YOU got the story wrong or MTV Holland is INCORRECT. Until you can prove they ever even mentioned it, I'm gonna assume it's YOU that is WRONG.

instead of accepting the fact that:
a) the video may not have even been submitted to MTV in the states yet.
b) MTV might just pass on it because Prince is no longer a relevant artist to their current audience.
c) they may have indeed passed on it for reasons you suggest, but you cannot back that statement up with a single ounce of proof.

What kind of fucking proof do you need?
Two people on this thread heard the report and people on other boards posted this same topic... But I guess they're all liars with an agenda to bash Americans and MTV eh? This may be common practice to you (obviously) but where I come from people don't post topics about an MTV item just to bash people from another country...

Why am I attacked as being the pretentious know-it-all when we are all to blindly accept your initial post?

Post retarded shit like this:
