Prince's TV References

Rosanne:

one halloween i believe she dressed up as Prince (purple rain era) (this episode staged Dan looking like he was having an affair with another man in their bed, but all was a joke)

Degrassi:

wow... where to start.
There is an episode entitled "When Doves Cry"
Character named emma NELSON
Character named MANUELA (Mani) santos
Episode named "U Got The Look"
in the episode named "U Got The Look" Mani wears a shirt that says "The Most Beautiful Girl In The World."

Sister, Sister:

While sitting in the vet's office, Lisa and Ray are bombarded by animals, Ray asked the condition of the St. Benard sitting next to him. The owner says "Prince has been very depressed lately." Ray goes, "Well by his last albums I can tell why!"
When Tia and Tamara get into a fight with Roger, they try to call him but get the answering machine. Tia then asks Tamara, "Does he still sing Prince songs on his answering machine?" Tamara fake cries and yelps, "He just went into the second verse of International Lover"

any more?

Purple Rain was mentioned on "King Of Queens".
Doug was talking about an old girlfriend he dated in '84 and he said " he took her to watch a 4'11 black man change the face of music in Purple Rain"

***On an episode of "Mr.Belvedere" in the mid-80s,the young daughter and her friends sneaked out to go to a Prince concert. In this same episode, her older brother made a reference to "those stupid Prince tapes" that his sister likes to play.

***On an episode of "Family Ties" in the 80s,the daughter with the brown hair said something about how "Let's Get Crazy" by Prince" should be played at someone's anniversary.I specifically remember she said "get" instead of "go"...lol...yeah,I know...I watched too much TV back then.

***On an episode of "Family Matters" in 1989,the son (Eddie) got tickets to a Prince concert and wound up taking his sister (funny...I don't remember Prince doing a tour in 1989...lol).

***On an episode of "Benson" in the mid-80s,Bensons' nephew (?) was listening to his music on a Walkman really loud, and he said that it was Prince and The Revolution. In the same episode,he throws a wild party and Benson walks in and says "this place looks like a Prince video".

***On a 1981 or 1982 episode of "Fame",the black male character with the braids (can't remember his name) was dancing to an instrumental version of Prince's song "Controversy".

***On a mid-80s episode of "Growing Pains",the mother was concerned with the way her daughter was dressing. She told her husband "Our daughter is starting to look like Prince".

lol hey what can i say? I watched alot of TV in the 80s.

Southpark have "done" Prince - well, I have an image anyway - don't know if there was a whole show or anything - but I don't know how to put it into the thread... I'll see if I can find out .

On one episode of The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Will is downstairs getting something to eat, ready to go to school to take senior pics. Carlton waltzes in from the poolhouse all snazzed up and dancing, and Will says, "Calrton, this is just a school picture, not a Prince video".

The character that you were refering to was Leroy. His real name was Gene Anthony Ray. His charcter and Debbie Allen were my favorite charactors. When I was first starting out in dancing, I used too fantasize about being on that show b/c it inspired me as a dancer.

Snap

Back in '84, on Silver Spoons, Ricky (Rick Schroeder) is 14-years old and complains about teens not being able to get into R-rated movies -- He says, "I can't even see Purple Rain!" or something like that. I had been a huge Prince fan for two years (since I was 12) and could certainly understand the frustration! 'Least I had a cool mom to take me.

edit: also remember back in 1980 or so on Dif'rent Strokes, Willis was showing off some dance moves to Charlene (Janet Jackson) -- the song that was playing: "I Wanna Be Your Lover" by Prince.

"Degrassi" is a show on the Nickelodeon channel 'Noggin'. It's their attempt at a teen show, like My So-Called Life and so on. It's basically centered on a bunch of teens going through highschool.
If I want your opinion, I'll beat it outta ya!

This episode was on in the UK last night. Will and Carlton have to do a photography project for class. Will is snapping some pics in the kitchen. Carlton walks in with a camera and tripod, sets it up and sets the timer and takes a few photos of himself in different "mincing" poses. Will says "Carlton, this is a photography project, not a Prince video" lol

The Robinsons? I know Cos had a daughter Rudy on the Cosby Show, but I've not heard of the Robinsons. And speaking of the Cosby Show, I remember Vannessa wearing P's SOTT denim jacket on an episode. Plus, I was flipping the other day and caught "Jerk Out" on MacGyver. Also, on 227 back in the day the kids were going to Prince show. I believe it was Lovesexy.

Thank you! The actor's name is Eddie Griffin & here's a description of the episode:

http://www.tvtome.com/tvt...pid-43866/

Malcolm prepares for the grand reopening of Kelly's sports bar and Eddie arranges to bring in the live entertainment for the event. He also uses his connections to book TAFKAP (The Artist Formerly Known As Prince). But when engine trouble derails the Artist's arrival, Eddie steps in to keep the show alive.
