this stuff has been up for at LEAST all of this year at the VH1 and MTV web sites. i guess prince's legal team doesn't have enough muscle to go after them.

it's one of those naughty CDs. but it does bring up an interesting question. if a "legit" web site (like, say, vh1.com) posts audio clips of "no-no" prince songs, can we discuss 'em if they're included as part of the information provided on a Viacom promo site for a cable television station? i mean, if prince hasn't blocked a mainstream media corporation's ability to post the outtake tracks online, the tracks aren't really "underground" at this point, are they? just askin'.

They have turned in2 Cult Classics now...they have been out since they were born... I just feel sad that Prince is not on top of this and than VH1's site actually thinks that this is a real release to put it on their site...tells Prince something...RELEASE IT!!! Dont let them steal money from you!!!! [Edited 10/1/04 22:33pm] Straight Jacket Funk Affair

well, maybe prince cuts them a break because they can get NEW listeners. after all, why please the ones who will follow you regardless? sure, screw around with housequake.com...they'll still support him.
whoever runs housequake should just say "fuck it, prince. fine. we won't give you FREE promos anymore. later." part of what keeps prince "alive" these days is the fact that he's got a loyal cult following. its sites like housequake, the org and all the others that keep that cult following connected. without them, we could all very possibly have lost interest. i mean, what's a crackhead without the crack...recovering? sure, we'd fiend for a while but eventually we would get over it and move on. anyway...at least vh1 is letting us sample this shit before we buy, download or trade.

Have the rules here at the Org changed at all? It's still cool to talk about the music on a bootleg, right? (I would hope so). I wish people really understand their rights on this issue, and what is legal and what is not. The ONLY illegal activity involving bootlegs is the actual recording of the show in the first place and the distribution and SALE of the bootleg. It is PERFECTLY LEGAL to own, possess, trade or discuss ANY bootleg records, period. No matter how much Prince and his lawyers try to front, that's the way it is, in the U.S. - as for overseas, in general they're even more lax, in that many countries don't even ban the sale of bootlegs. No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

I think the modz on the site suck ass, they are like Hitler in a sense that they control everything you say. I want some of these bootleg recordings because i'm a fan of the man and i want to hear as much as i can from him. Lately i've been checking out this site: http://bootleg.freakin.nl/ there's some cool shit on there and i suggest eveyone check it out before it goes bye bye. Do yourself a favor and check it out!!!!
