Chaos and Disorder Appreciation Thread

Ever since Let's Go Crazy, Prince got me started listening to Rock Guitar and over the years, I've always wanted to hear him do a "straight" rock record.

Looking through my archives, I rediscovered what I once thought was a throwaway album--Chaos and Disorder.

Love it! In the middle of the Chaos of his own life, in the midst of his war with Warner's, his decreasing sales, and the impending breakup of his marriage, His Royal Badness throws this out there.

A ballsy, in-your-face kind of album that shows him hanging with the six-string...it took me eight years to realize that, damn, I like this jam!

Favorite tracks: Chaos and Disorder, Zannalee, Dig U Better Dead (!), and ummm, I Rock, Therefore I am. *gulp*

God forbid, eight years from now, I'll be groovin to the Rainbow Children.

Some people tell me I've got great legs...

you got nothin 2 be ashamed of lovin "i rock, therefore i am"....i love the fact that you can feel every lick beacuse of the fact the its LIVE... same thing goes for rainbow children cause he took it back to the lost age of bands that played for the love of playin music and fans that still listen...

It doesn't even come CLOSE to Emancipation IMHO, but it's still a great cd that is constantly underrated.

Zannalee rocks!

Yep, you should gulp, because that's one of the worst songs he's ever written. Okay, wait, it probably isn't so bad, but the rapping kills it.

Make some noise if you hear me, NPG rocks the city.
Rugged and raw, lift up your bra, show me your titties..."

I'd continue, but I just got sick on my keyboard.*gulp*

C & D has some standouts, but the standouts are too damn short and they don't make up for the tracks that just don't work, like "I Rock..." and "Right the Wrong."

The title track, IMO, is a great starter for what had the potential of being a really good disc. Everything's good until "Right The Wrong," and while "Zannalee" was a good recovery, once "I Rock..." starts, everything goes down the tubes, no matter how hard "Dig U Better Dead" and "Had U" try to bring the album out of the ditch.

I think Chaos and Disorder is a closet classic. One day it will get due props. My favorite song on it is "I Rock Therefore I Am." Prince ROCKS!

In my opinion it definately has it moments, like title track and zannalee and had u, but overall there is too many demo-like and plain stupid songs too (I rock... above all).

I like the idea it being a guitar album, but it just isnt good enough.

No. But I do like giving the underdogs some credit from time to time.

The title track, "I Like It There" and "Zanalee" rock my pants. I even love "The Same December" and "Right the Wrongs", which so many fans think are cheesy. But sorry, I can't find anything good to say about "Dig U Better Dead".
You better wake up, Stella. This is my town!
