I didn't go to college either, so don't jump on my case about it. not jumping on ur case, but u don't have to go to college to have an intelligent conversation. being that i am myself a college student, even after the fact of persuing college and completing, i would doubt the fact that i knew more than Prince. he's very worldly. He's been around, he knows a lot from experience. I can't even answer some questions thrown at me sometimes. lol. my parents are high school drop-outs, regardless they have their GEDs, but thats besides the point, they are extremely intelligent. IMO, I think Prince holds back because all he wants to do is shout at the reporters, "FUCK YEA!! I'M CRAZY!! AND I WANNA BANG A SHIT LOAD OF CHICKS." Don't let him fool you. Prince is still Prince. Deep down inside, he's just the old "Dirty Mind/Controversy" Prince that we know and love waiting to jump out in front of everyone.  Sex Kitten

The interviewers are boring! They need 2 do more homework on P other than talking about Purple Rain amillion times. He'd b very happy and fresh if they talked about his latest music ...TRC,Chocolate Invasion,Slaughter House,NEWS, etc. etc. as well as MUSICOLOGY. Ask Q's about the NPGMC and it's evolution from year 2 year. They all ask the same Q's so P gives them the same answers, hell all they have 2do is read his previous interviews and come up with fresh Q's 2 add 2 the obvious Q's about the new album and tour! U,ME,WE!....2FUNKY! | |

I think he comes off as self-righteous in the 04 interviews, really. particularly when he talks about how it's not cool to cuss and sell sex anymore. I mean, he's right, but, I kind of feel turned off by him shunning his "old sexy, nasty self", just like I was turned off when Al gore distanced himself from Bill Clinton during the 00 elections. I happened 2 LIKE the old Prince, and Bill Clinton, so the Christianized, holier-than-I-used-2-B thing 4 me w/ Prince IS rather annoying. I don't think Prince is boring. Actually it's exciting because this is the first year I have ever ever been into Prince and know that he exists. I have only liked him since Feb. But yeah I know what some of you mean by he keeps answering with boring answers. I can't wait till Oprah gets a hand on him then it will be worth watching. And as for Prince kissing, he does kiss bad as I could see. I wouldn't mind kissing him but still it looks so bad when he does on TV. [Edited 10/5/04 10:04am] | |

i read (probably) almost every interview that came out in the past year...as i'm sure most of us have...and, yes, he is on the dull side. the first one or two interviews were cool because he addressed things for the first time (well, minus the stuff he was regurgitating from prior concerns). after that, though, every interview was the same. as deja said, part of that is because the journalists are only allowed to ask him certain types of questions. that in and of itself is terribly boring. not to mention contradictory...he's always talking about freedom but that is the last thing he gives a journalist when it comes time to interview him. | |

I would say he has gotten boring but I wont take it there.
Instead I'll just say he's gotten older and much more mature.  He was radical, wild, elusive and controversial when he was younger as most people are but now he's settled into his life. I mean, I personally dont think Prince is old but he certainly does...think about how he referred to some performers showing their skin in the Tavis Smiley interview when he played "Reflection" with Wendy on acoustic, he said " They shouldnt be showing it. It's old skin" and this comment was in highlight right after the Janet Jackson Nipplegate thing... if he thinks she's old and she's younger then him, he must be etched in caves in his mind. Or maybe he was referring to good ol Madonna who still aint afraid to jump up and do her thang even if we do have to call her ESTHER.  I have thought Prince was being boring when everytime I eagerly picked up a magazine expecting to read about something said differently, what, I dont know, but wound up hearing the same :Why should I curse, I dont talk about my personal life, Sony understands what it is for an artist to be free, NPGMC is a music club for the real fans, Larry G is my best friend, Im a JW, etc. type of stuff. But then again, most interviwers have been asking him the same type of questions.
