Prince Owns At Least One Bootleg! Prince wasn't averse to receiving mix-tapes from his friends, back in the day...
Michael Koppelman once made Prince a cassette of Kate Bush B-Sides. http://gaffa.org/moments/2_2j.html Read the post dated Wednesday, 4 Oct 1995 at 20:15hrs It's funny because Prince knew I was a huge KB fan. He was too, but not like me. The first time I asked him if he liked Kate Bush he said, she's my favorite woman. I also made him a tape of all the KB b-sides, which fucking rule.

B-side, by definition, means that it was released by the artist.
A bootleg, by definition, is something that was never commercially released. The Normal Whores Club

What you are talking about would be called a pirated compilation. Technically, this would still be coinsidered an illegal production since it was not produced for Michael's personal use. I hate the laws.

I am sure he has all the essential bootlegs of his own performances (i.e. Small Club).....Remember he requested us last year to send him all our 'illegal' recordings? I am sure there were some suckers around who actually did that!

So yes, Prince owns, at least, James Brown bootlegs. Fucking hypocrite that he is. abierman said: I am sure he has all the essential bootlegs of his own performances (i.e. Small Club).....Remember he requested us last year to send him all our 'illegal' recordings? Oh, he's got more than that. There was a long period of time where employees of his were assigned to go and search out the latest bootlegs of him so that he could listen to them. True story.

he's said in an interview in the late 90s i think, that he understands why fans collect his boots etc and so on, and he doesnt hate them for it, he just want em! i suppose it is hypocritical but we'll never know for sure unless we know he's collecting boots of someone who has also sued fans for boots!
