just visited the "Favorite TRC tracks" thread, and noticed that some ppl listed "Digital Garden" as one of their faves. would just like 2 know, Y????? It is the only joint on TRC that skip EVERY time ... just 2 bizzare! Please tell me there r others here who just ain't feelin' that track! *yuck*

On a side note, "The Everlasting Now" is a brilliant, WICKED funksplosion!!!! LOVE IT!!!!! 2 hear it live would b euphoria!!!

I don't dislike the track, per se. I think it has its moments, and I enjoy the end when it kicks into the guitar heavy segue into The Work. Certainly not the best song on the album, but I don't think it's as bad as all that.

I skip over Digital Garden and Mellow every time.

I really like Digital Garden. I always skip over Mellow, as well.

I dig the beginning of this track (gotta love that latin flava) but once the lyrics start....

It is evidence of the *real* Prince escaping ever-so-briefly from Larry G.'s mindwarping choke-hold.

"Mellow" is BEAUTIFUL musically, and the lyrics r cool as well. Those of u skipping it r missing a HOT honey-sweet slow JAM!!! "Mellow" is brilliance!

Mellow is a great song. It shows (to me at least) that Prince still has some sense of humour left. "Besides...you know...it takes...a while...for me...to do...MY HAIR." Can't you just see him singing that with that little smirk expression he sometimes get where he looks like he's up to no good. It's so great.

Oh man, I loved Digital Garden! Loved the AFrican drumming, especially. The segue into the pounding drums and searing guitar work, including the guitar/motorcycle effect and left/right panning at the end was sweet ...
I never really considered it a single-worthy song, just a cool piece of the concept album puzzle that serves sets up The Work beautifully.

Digital Garden is definitely the highlight of the album. WHen I heard the snippet on the Ahdio show before TRC I had great hopes for the album, but unfortunately it was just a one off.

Not that I don't love the rest of TRC!

Digital Garden is GREAT: mystical feel, beautiful melody, absolute serenity bubbling with an irresistable urgency that explodes in the end - that song kicks my ass!

Digital Garden is a fine composition. Yes, it is different from the regular Prince material, but I like it a lot.

At first the track reminded me slightly of "Talk Talk", anyone remember that group? Most of their songs had that sound that runs through the 1st half of the song.

The vocal performance is very cool and the second part is excellent. But if U don't like that 'all my dreams' voice on it, than I can understand why U don't care for the song 2 much.

But MELLOW is an absolute favorit of mine. Damn that's a nice song. His voice on that joint is just soooo coooool.

The verse that goes:

"Where U wanna eat 2nite baby?
I know this dope spot called oneanother"

Ooooooh man, that's a cool part.

Plus, as someone else mentioned, it's a little bit of the nasty Prince coming in again 2ward the end....

"Wet circles around the toy, while U bring Urself 2 Joy"


The way it segues in2 "1+1+1=3" makes 4 the best ever back 2 back song combination since "New Position" & "I Wonder U".


Oh, Parade, now where is my copy of Parade.....?

The only thing wrong with DG is the fact that it's too short.

Digital Garden is my favotire track on TRC... for real.
