Songs Prince gave away that you wish he did himself

I love the music to this song, but I wish someone else was on vocals. Maybe Mayte? I think Prince could do it, he would just have to change the pronouns. There's gotta be a demo of this somewhere. Anybody heard it?

Any other songs you guys can think of that he wrote for other people that you wish he released himself?

question Does anyone know if a version of Good Judy Girlfriend with Prince on vocals even exists?

Anyone? eek

LOL!!...I was wondering the same thing..lol

To answer the question, tho, I always wanted to hear Prince do the song "U" that he gave to Paula Abdul...I think that song's pretty cool, but Ms. Abdul's vocals grate on the nerves...

Yes, I like the song "U" as well. You could definitely tell that was a Prince production with Paula's vocals slapped on it. Cool song.

Of course, there was that version of it from '79 for "The Rebels" project that didn't get off the ground. That version wasn't really that good.

The songs I'm going to choose for this question are probably some obvious choices- Love thy will be Done and Open Book. I know of the bootleg versions for these two with his vocals, but I think the question is referring to him actually releasing them, so I'll go with those two.

Moonbeam

Wow- there are several....

Cool- I believe Prince even said he regrets giving it away.

Chocolate- I love Prince's version!

Neon Telephone- Prince's version is a whimsical masterpiece!

The Dance Electric- Incredibly intense!

Open Book- This song needs to be known as a Prince song!

Love...Thy Will Be Done- I like Martika's version, but Prince's vocals and depth are what make it a masterpiece.

cool thread!

eye wish, eye wish he had kept this:

- Eternity: P´s voice on this song definitely sounds better than Sheena Eastons;

- 100 MPH: the version of Prince Funks!

- Hold me; lawd, oh lawd why u gave this one 2 Jevetta Steele?!?!?!?

- Allegiance; or is this an outtake.... WHATEVA this ballad is smooth!

Wow, I was wondering why no one was responding...

Good Judy Girlfriend is on Carmen Electra's album. It's so cool!!!! And if I remember correctly, it was written during the Batman period.

I've never heard Prince singing this one, but Chaka Khan does a good job on it. I like her version better than Sheena's.
