Prince musical segues

How do you think Prince does with segues? It seems that the experts always lamblast him for this aspect of his work, but I think it is marvelous how over the years he's tracked his albums, and otherwise tied his albums together.

I believe it actually speaks to his love of the craft of album making... I'm going to go out on a limb and vote the tracking of The Rainbow Children as top-notch, however, if you can't take them as part of the story being told these segues are a bit overly intrusive. Once I accepted that the voice overs on The Rainbow Children are thematic and thus necessary for the telling of the story I sort of fell in love with them. Okay here's my TOP TEN:

    * Lovesexy
    * The Rainbow Children
    * Sign o' the Times
    * Parade
    * Purple Rain
    * 1999
    * Chaos & Disorder
    * One Nite Alone ...
    * The Truth ...
    * New Power Soul

Gold Nigga and Exodus deserve honorable mentions... again, I'm not necessarily dealing with the MUSIC per se, but more on how the theme of the music holds together -- but of course these albums do constitute some fantastic funk in my humble opinion.

I've gotta give a shout out to the poster of the If I Was Your Girlfriend intro for bringing this topic to the table!
La, la, la
