'80's Prince... without a doubt.
He was daring and racy and took chances, he was somewhat spiritual, he was sexually-provocative, he was experimental but at the same time professional. Of course, his '70's output was good, and some jewels lay within the '90's, but I feel that in the '80's, it was basically, how do you say... Prince... the real Prince, not this generic spiritual twit we have nowadays...

the 80's is the only decade in which he was really consistently puttin gout great material. he got real lazy in the 90's...or maybe just too successful in the 80's...and lost touch for a while. i say the 80's.

I was gonna start a thread like this, for real.
Of course I'm gonna say the 1980's. It was the decade where he was the most creative and produced all his best albums. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

'80's. | |

I hope this doesn't sound like a fam-type answer, but I love it all. Obviously the '80s were his peak, but he's been pretty consistent, overall. Personally, I think Musicology is a fantastic album. The only thing it lacks is 2 or 3 killer singles but it is a very consistent listen.

He only had 2 albums in the 70's and the first one was a demo.

For You weren't no demo -- he worked forever on that thing and spent way past budget.
'80s here too, of course

Erstwhile, sycamore, pomegranite and pompadom spicy onion badji...I daresay I've enjoyed the past three or four years more than most would consider worthwhile to the left chop of the cranium.
Of course, only time can tell. No mere mortal possesses fully the truth and knowledge perfected into kangaroo spectrum armada cannon. Except for myself, but that's certainly considered forbidded knowledge.
