How much of your legit Prince collection have you bought new, from a store? Out of all my huge Prince collection, the only things I've bought new from a legit source are The Very Best of Prince, N.E.W.S and the Musicology single.
All the things I've bought over the years and Prince probably got about $3.00 out of me. [Edited 9/12/04 5:08am]

[Edited 9/12/04 5:08am] all bought music is leggit ,or certainly should be .You didn't mention trade, its the stores responsibility to make it so or risk being closed down for good .I have seen it done after buying dirty bootlegs (they always sound bad) Let prince deliver his musical inspiration as intended ,with liner notes currenty photos for the time of the music & visual enlightenment included with motives to enhance the music or add to the artists mystery. the music is more meaningful or deciferable with all intended ,included in the wrapper ...FULL PACKAGE please dont just hear the music but see it too .you don't have to imagine what silience must look like when it's right b4 your eyes c-ing is believing

All of his legit released recordings I have are legit, except for downloads of songs that I own as originals (most of my Prince collection is in Australia and I've been away for six years).
I became a fan in 1992, and since then have obtained his entire catalogue of b-sides, extended versions, etc, so I'd say half of my collection was bought new, and half second-hand. Life it ain't real funky unless you got that orgPop.

with the exception of a few things i can't find in retail (kamasutra, etc.), everything i bought has been legit, or at the very least, from the used bins at the wrecka stow.

everything that's official i bought new or at the time of release from a legit store. Maybe a couple of second hand CD singles or very early 12 inch singles from record fairs or second hand stores but that's all. All my treasured 80's vinyl 12 inch's i bought on import from the States in HMV/Virgin etc

Same here. I've purchased every album legitimately. A few friends have given me some stuff, but overall I enjoy the experience of buying a new album.

The way I understand the question is how much of Prince's official releases have you bought new from the wrecka stow. This means you bought it the day it was released or shortly thereafter. As opposed to newer fans who have bought older albums at discounts. Right?
There hasn't been one official Prince release that I haven't bought the very day it was released. The only exception to this is N.E.W.S. which I didn't even know was out at stores. I just happened upon it at a Sam Goody one day and grabbed it. If Prince releases it, and I know exactly what day it's out, I'm there to get it. Ahh, I remember the days of waiting outside Tower Records for an hour or more before the store opened to get my new Prince album. Good times.

Uh... I don't understand the question. All of my collection was bought legitimately in the stores... except my boots. All albums, cassettes and CDs, bought on the day of release from Parade - present. For You - Around The World In A Day, were bought after the original release dates. Now... out of my boots, I probably paid for 25%... the other 75% was aquired through trades. Lovesexy Funkateer
