i can remember as clear as day, buying that sucker at the tower records on broadway and 4th street in NYC, first thing in the morning on the way to work.

Damn. I was in the 6th grade when that came out.. the whole hoopla about the name (or lack thereof) , AFKAP, etc.-- what a headache...


I think he should shave his head in commemoration and write "Indentured Slave" on his head

I was like 11 years old and I remember seeing the Oprah special
and thinking he was still COOL but kinda CREEPY too

but seeing Oprah on the treadmill blastin the album and wearing
her Emancipation hat and tee-shirt was hilarious...also watching
her get all emotional when they were in the studio

It was like ole Oprah was a crazy fam for a day

Emancipation is 8 years old today, and it sounds 8 years old too. Unlike ,Gold Experience, or Chaos and Disorder, Emancipation really suffers from the plastic-y production and stilted drum sounds. Really is a shame too, because the song-writing on Emancipation is often top-notch.

Emancipation has one of the worst opening songs ever....Jam Of The Year...when i first heard that i was thinking if the whole album is like this it's gonna be crap...good thing it picked up real quick.

I am so outnumbered.
This CD is in my top 3 favorites.

I remember it well, Prince was free at last!

Good set of CDs. It houses some of his cheesiest stuff ever but Ill take it nonetheless.

My copy of Emancipation didn't make the trip with me to Texas. I guess I'll go out an buy a copy for 9.99.

I don't mind listening to all three discs.
