I´m creating this thread as a response to the one created by Istenzcek and the posts by him and Langebleu on that particular thread. They were talking about the meaning of the lyrics to Props N Poundz and the connection between condoms, lubricants and AIDS.
I think the lyrics have absolutely nothing to do with lubricants making condoms porous.

I think what Prince is referring to is the theory that Prof. Peter Duesberg came up with a few years ago. He´s a professor at Berkeley as far as I recall and he claims that there´s some ingredient in certain lubricants which might cause some of the symptoms associated with AIDS, especially the socalled Karposi syndrome, i.e. infected spots on your skin etc.
Prince seems to soak up conspiracy theories like a sponge.
This man, Prof. Duesberg, doesn´t even believe in AIDS and HIV at all if I remember correctly. He believes that the whole epidemic has a lot to do with changes in lifestyle ( bad nutrition, fast food, polluted environment, radiactivity, cocaine use, amylnitrate aka "poppers" etc.).
There was also an article about AIDS in Africa in SPIN magazine in 1998 called "Out Of Africa" saying that most of the diseases declared as AIDS are merely simple yet deadly diseases due to malnutrition and contaminated water. The current president of South Africa got under heavy criticism at some point for believing Duesberg´s theories and claiming that HIV doesn´t exist.

The disproportional use of lubricants among gay circles is, according to Duesberg, one of the major factors of the socalled AIDS disease. I don´t know what to think about it since I´m not a doctor and this man is not some conspiracist nut, but I thought it´s interesting anyway.

That being said, how many conspiracy theories has Prince incorporated into his lyrics since the mid nineties ??? ( The War, Muse 2 the Pharaoh, PropsNPoundz, etc..??)

Funny, I'm HIV-positive and the only lube I use is spit.

Those lines in Props and Pounds have always creeped me out.
