The Thunder Ballet

eek
Oh, my.
This is the sound I've been waiting for Prince to make since Lovesexy. That entire middle movement is just...astonishingly beautiful. It's like nothing he's done before or since. Like Sigur Ros and Aphex Twin kissing in space, running out of breath, living off each others lungs, until...such utter nothingness. God.
I've always respected the remarkable one-man-band achievement of the album version, but never actually enjoyed it (too cartoony/meledramatic/bombastic confused ) but the ambience, the skewed harmonies, the building drama, the sheer alienness and loneliness he captured with this extended part...it's not of this world. They should have sent it up with Voyager 2...maybe they would have landed by now.
It's not only a whole new song, but a whole new movement in sound. I can't believe the guy was working with Tony M ( neutral )at the same time he wrenched this from his soul.

For the newbies, this is pretty rare material, created especially for the Billboard ballet people, but, man....this is it. This is what I was waiting for. The one that moves it all forward. This is the direction he should have gone in. I hope he returns to this place. It's a seed for a whole new forest.
I, 23, urge everyone with ears to shoot puppies, throttle grannies, do anything to hear this music - The Thunder Ballet.

It is an extended version of Thunder, written for a performance by the Joffey Ballet.

It was feautured on one of their video cassettes. So it is out there in quite a good version if you search hard enough...

Any chance you can upload it somewhere where it can be download?

Actually, forget that idea, I just put Thunder on and suddenly dont have the appetite for a different incarnation of it... Cant believe how dated D&P sounds these days....

Heh, it's nothing like the actual song...I feel the same about D&P. This is a completely difference piece of music....almost ambient.
