i treat my copy of "dream factory" like a regular ol' prince album, kinda like people treated the black album back in the day. i have it shelved in between my copies of "parade" and SOTT. it's just too good to treat like a common bootleg. nod

Yes! If he was to issue just one shelved project, this would be it for me.

I have the 2-disk dream factory...is the remastered any different? Or did some one just throw all of what was out there and "clean" them up?

I made my own version of The Dream Factory and treat it like a regualr Prince album and listen to it as much as the rest of them. This is my girlfriends favorite album...except All My Dreams.
My version only contains songs that were not on SOTTs and other songs from that era.

1. Visions
2. Dream Factory
3. Train
4. Ballad of Dorothy Parker (the only Sign song the two sets share)
5. Strange Relationship (Revolution version)
6. Sexual Suicide
7. Crystal Ball ( the one with the "purple underground" part in it)
8. Joy In Repetition
9. It's A Wonderful Day
10. A Place in Heaven
11. Witness 4 the Prosecution
13. Power Fantasic
14. Teacher, Teacher
15. Movie Star
16. All My Dreams

i'm guessing this is the edition that's being talked about. as good as this version sounds, i can't imagine how there could be a better sounding version out there (except perhaps for disc 2, which can sound kinda dodgey in places).

We're talking about a bootleg of the shelved Revolution 2LP from 1986 - So obviously no-one here can expound on where to get it, it's against board policy.

It's been posted a bazillion times before, but here's the final configuration (it was never completed, so there is no 'final' config. per se), there are several working configurations, and this was the last one before the album was shelved:

side one:
1. Visions
2. Dream Factory
3. Train
4. The Ballad Of Dorothy Parker
5. It

side two:
1. Strange Relationship
2. Starfish & Coffee
3. Slow Love
4. I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man

side three:
1. Sign O' The Times
2. A Place In Heaven
3. Crystal Ball

side four:
1. The Cross
2. Last Heart
3. Witness 4 The Prosecution
4. Movie Star
5. All My Dreams

///

When Prince was working on expanding the Camille LP into a 3LP set, he dug up a lot of the Dream Factory tracks to add to the project - which evolved into the 3LP Crystal Ball.

Crystal Ball was eventually marred down to just 2 discs, and officially released as Sign O' The Times.

Tracklists for those albums:

> Camille

1. Rebirth Of The Flesh
2. Housequake
3. Strange Relationship
4. Feel U Up
5. Shockadelica
6. Good Love
7. If I Was Your Girlfriend
8. Rockhard In A Funky Place

> Crystal Ball

Side 1
Rebirth of the Flesh
Play In the Sunshine
Housequake
The Ballad of Dorothy Parker

Side 2
It
Starfish and Coffee
Slow Love
Hot Thing

Side 3
Crystal ball
If I Was Your Girlfriend
Rock Hard In a Funky Place

Side 4
The Ball
Joy In Repetition
Strange Relationship
I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man

Side 5
Shockadelica
Good Love
Forever In My Life
Sign of the Times

Side 6
The Cross
Adore
It's Gonna' be a Beautiful Night

(I do have these in a text file of junk because the question comes up so often! lol )

It's probably the best sounding studio boot of them all.

It should be a sticky as you reply to this answer so often! I hereby bequeath you the Official Dream Factory Guru or the Official Shelved Tracklisting Master! biggrin

I think there should be an expanded FAQ...for the questions that come up over and over again, like this one.
