Original Symbol = Trans link?

I found this symbol on a site about transsexual/transgendered issues.

Check out the upper-left bit...

Now, I know the "Is he gay?" question has been talked to death, and with no definite answer, as none of us know Prince personally and can't accurately claim him to be anything.

BUT

Maybe the more appropriate question isn't "Is he straight, gay, or bi?", but "What gender does he feel he is?"

Just speculation folks. Go ahead and tell me I'm crazy or grasping if you want. I probably am. shrug

Well, I missed out on the previous straight/bi threads, so I'll bite:

I think the answer is...BOTH. Camille is inside of him, and is obviously female. Jamie Starr, Alexsander Nevermind, Bob George, & all those other folk are guys, including PRN himself. So, I think he has alluded 2 having multiple personality disorder, on some level or another, as a result of the alleged abuse he suffered as a youth, w/ his father, and mother, then being unstable, in terms of his home situation, after they split. So, he just found a way 2 channel his multiple personalities in2 something positive, and creative, which unfortunately, most people are unable 2 do. All these years, I thought the Brothah was bi-sexual myself, but recent statements he has made makes me wonder(like the time when he told Michael Jackson he did not want 2 duet w/ him on 'BAD', b/c he did not want MJ singing 2 him, "You're butt is mine...", as if that was just "2 GAY" 4 him....) Now I think he's heterosexual, but VERY in touch w/ his feminine side, which would make 4 a perfect mate, if a woman was heterosexual, but bi-curious.....

Just speculation folks. Go ahead and tell me I'm crazy or grasping if you want. I probably am. shrug

I think he's a two-spirit.
Someone who has characteristics of both sexes and a soul that is both male and female.

I've been a Prince fan since 1982. Aside from a few "feminine" outfits, I've never seen, heard , or read ANYTHING that would make me believe that he was gay or Bi-sexual.

On the other hand, he has many, many, many times over, in lyrics, concerts and interviews shown a clearly masculine personality that lusts after women (exclusively). I recal in one interview he was asked about some of the sexually ambiguous behavior with some of his band mates in early performances, whether it was genuine or acting. Prince said they were acting and implied that it was for attention/exposure. Then there is the "rumor" that he was adamantly speaking against gay activity when he became entrenched in JW teachings. That is unconfirmed, however.

As for the male/female symbolism... Prince has said a few times (around the Emancipation era) that he felt he had two personalities inside him. Note also that he writes ALOT of songs for women from a female perspective - thus the creation of Vanity 6, and the material for countless other female singers.

I'm not gay. I'd have no problem with Prince if he were gay or bi, hell, I'm a huge fan of George Michael who is openly gay. But just stating that Prince has never even hinted at being gay or attraction to men in any of his work that I can recall. I will admit that most people who only have a passing knowledge of Prince assume he is gay or Bi based on appearance/clothing/high heels/make-up/etc.

This isn't about whether or not he's gay, and I wasn't trying to turn it into that. BTW, people don't think he's gay because of his clothes -it's because whatever he is, he is kinda fruity. biggrin

Interesting that the weekly "is he gay" thread blows up all over the place without fail, but when a different question is posed, there's barely a ripple.....

On Oprah, didn't Prince say he had a woman living inside him ... not sure if he referred to Camille ... but didn't he name this woman.

Since then, i've always believed that Prince perceived himself as a dual gender identity. I don't think he has an identity crisis, per se ... because he seems to have adjusted well to the blending of identities.

It's great that he went into a profession where he could explore and express both sides.

Don't think it's a crisis for him, just a reality.

(and like someone else said this doesn't necessarily suggest anything about his sexuality since gender identity is a separate issue. I can't see Prince being gay or bisexual although I think he does have some feminine tendencies)

Make no mistake about it, PRince has acknowledged identifying with a woman inside him. And that means something in clinical/psychological terms.

He said he had another person(a) living inside him of which they didn't know the gender...
