How great is the 86 birthday concert!

Except for him not playing guitar, Prince is fucking amazing on this video. His energy was insane--like he was on crack. This was when he was the coolest bastard on the planet, and he knew it. Now, sadly, he is just quaint. Sure, he is still great live, but this was when Prince had the world by the ass.

The whole band is on point as well. One of the great P moments of all time.

it was pretty great. though i have a feeling if i saw the tokyo concert from the nude tour in its entirety, i'd have a contender for the 86 bday show...everything i've seen from that tokyo show blows me away.

It was my first live video. I still get entranced during HEAD. He's just there lying on the stage and the music has gone minimal and he starts in on Electric Man. He is just making shit up as he goes along...and smiling the whole time. Stuff that would later end up as a song somewhere. I watch it and think genius. He was already onto the next thing and it's obvious. This video out does some but not all. The quality is really good.

The audio of that tour is amazing as well. I have Septembre and you get all the stuff that gets cut out of the show.

If he threw in a couple of guitar solo's into that performance i would probably have it down as the most essential prince footage availible in highlighting how great he is as a band leader.
You do as I say

What about the 2hours whole show, with Andre on Dance Electric, unedited on DVD?

What else is on the uncut version? Does it exist in video or audio format?

He *did* play guitar at that show--I was there. I've always been sad at what was cut out of the Birthday video.
