Its a remix if anything.

Although not set in stone, a b-side is commonly a completely different track to the a-side.

Thieves II is no more a B-side than I wish U heaven parts II and III, or sections of the Scandalous Sex Suite.

Where the remix/b-side thing can become a bit blurred is with tracks like the Cream 9 track. New songs or remixes? they do have compelety different names, so it could be argued they are new tracks.

Hmmmm

There has to be a name for this type of B-side, as there are others in the same boat:

-Alphabet St. (cont'd)

-Mo' Jerk Out

-New Power Generation (Pt.II)

How about we call them a "Reprise"?

It is an instrumental part of the original extended version, but always is marked as b-side. Naming it a reprise would be giving it too much credit.

There isn't really a 'part 2' I have the vinyl 12 inch and 'part 1' runs straight into 'part 2' it's continuous and labelled as a single track.

I like to think this is the full track and the single version was a radio edit. Just like what happened with Alphabet Street.

The full video proves that it was a single track.

It's like a 12" extended tune.

A b-side is an extra song that comes with a single release.

A remix is a song that has been changed around and given a different vibe to it.

This is a continuation of the original song and extends the song with a fuller version.

Thieves In The Temple Part 2 was a separate track on the cassette single and on some countries' CD singles.

None of the above. It was just a part of the CD single.

Yeah, but that's only because you HAVE to split up a tape since of course you have another side to fill.

Anyway, I've just dug my 12 inch out of the cupboard, and it is OFFICIALLY labelled as Thieves in the Temple (remix). On the 12 inch there are 2 Junior Vasquez remixes as well, a House mix and a Dub mix.

Thieves In The temple part 2 appeared on the 7" not the 12" and is purely instrumental unlike the second half of the remix. So we are talking about different tracks here guys!

I know. but that isn't Thieves In The Temple part 2. Like I said there's no singing on that track.

Here's the lyric of the song I'm talking about...taken from dtt-lyrics.com, where, by the way, is listred like an alternate version and not like b-side. Now I'm cofused about this instrumental versionn U're talking about. I've never heard it or knew about it...the only instrumetal versions I have in my 12', 7' and maxi is the william orbit remix instrumental

Thieves In The Temple
(Remix)
CHORUS:

Love - come quick
Love - come in a hurry
There are thieves in the temple 2night
They don't care where they kick
Just as long as they hurt U
There are thieves in the temple 2night

Love - if U're there come save me
From all this cold despair
I can hang when U're around
But I'll surely die if U're not there

CHORUS

I feel like they're looking 4 my soul (Soul)
Like a poor man looking for gold (Gold)
There are thieves in the temple 2night

Voices from the sky say rely on your best friend 2 pull U through
But even if I wanted 2 I couldn't really truly cuz my only friend is U
Come on
There are thieves in the temple 2night

Kicking me… kicking me in my heart
Tearing me all apart (Tearing me, tearing me, tearing me all apart)
Cuz me and U could have been a work of art
Thieves in the temple

Baby, don't U know I'm holding on the best that I can
Love - please help me be the better man
Better than the thieves in the temple, in the temple 2night
Oh, thieves in the temple (2night) 2night
Hurt me

CHORUS

(Thieves in the temple) {x4}
U said U loved me!
U said I was your baby!
U was supposed 2 take care of me! (Love - come quick)
U lied! (Love - come in a hurry)
Lied! Lied! Thieves in the temple 2night
Lied!

Thieves in the temple 2night {x4}
Thieves in the temple

I'm holdin' on the best that I can (Holdin' on)
Love - please let me be the better man (Let me be)
Better than the ones that wanna count me out (Thieves, thieves)
Better than the ones that don't know what my love's about
I'm talkin' 'bout the kinda love that could move a mountain
The kinda love that could part the sea
The kinda love that'll last 4ever
(No matter what U say, we should be 2gether)
U should be with me (Thieves in the temple)
Yeah, U should be with me

I said I wanna know one thing (Talk 2 me, talk 2 me)
Said I wanna know, I wanna know one thing, baby (Talk 2 me, talk 2 me)
How come U said that I was your baby
When U and your love was gonna leave?
U led me on, led me on thinkin' U was Moses
Herdin' sheep blindly through a fantasy
U done me wrong and everybody knows it (Thieves in the temple)
Now the sound of my voice is pumpin' in your chest
More or less, I am here 2 tell U that
I am the best, better than the rest
Better than the thieves in the temple 2night
2night, 2night, 2night, 2night… hurt me!

Put it in here
(Thieves in the temple) {x2}
Thieves in the temple 2night

What the…? (Thieves in the temple)

Put your foot on the rock
Let me show U how 2 clock
Put your foot on the rock
Let me show U how 2 clock

(Thieves in the temple)
(Thieves, thieves)
What the...? (Thieves in the temple 2night)

Who got the party, who got the party - who? {x4}
(Thieves in the…)
Hurt me!

(Thieves in the temple) {repeat till end}

Thieves in the temple 2night {x2}

I say neither... I'd call it an extension as well. Especially since all of it wound up in the extended 12" version anyway.

I had a hard time deciding whether to put this on the list or not. Yes, it's an extension that's part of the 12" version, but it's not a remix, a virtual b-side or an album track. And it appears after a pause on the cassingle, so I had to put it on. I Wish U Heaven Parts I, II and III were always the one track, never played seperately like Thieves II.

It IS a b-side because what really is a b-side?
The flip song on a single.
Before virtual b-sides and cd singles and maxi singles
and cassette singles.... there was the "45", the 7 inch single.
Originally, the "b-side" was the song on the other side
of a 7 inch record. An opposite to the intended release.
The A side and the B side.

"Thieves In The Temple (pt. II)" was released on the flip
side of the Thieves In The Temple 7 inch record. The single.
Making "pt II" the B side of Thieves In The Temple.

The actual recording of "pt II" is just a a section of the
extended portion of TITT with the vocals taken out and
the harmonica part added.

On a side note, what really sucked is when Horny Pony
was the b side of Cream right after it had already been
the b side of Gett Off! Same b side twice?? disbelief
