Hey, I narrowed down my Prince tattoo to two choices. I can't decide between the 2 so I trust all my fellow orgers to help.
1) ALL of the titles of his albums in chronological order
2) Holding Someone is Truly Believing There's Joy in Repetition
(for Joy in Repetition)

I'm only getting 1 and it'll probably be on my back so it's not visible all the time.

Please give me your comments

The only cool Prince tattoo I saw was on a LADY.

In the small of her back she had a MINOR G music note....

Classy.

I would probably shorten it to Holding someone is truly believing...
Think its a bit better short and sweet

first off: thank you for not considering a frickin tattoo!!!

the two ideas you've put forth sound pretty cool...the 1st idea would work really well if you somehow incorporated all the album titles into some sorta design, as opposed to just the list of albums. matter of fact, both your ideas would work this way.

thats a good idea, my mom has his face tattooed on her hip!she gets alot of compliments on it, it looks really goo!

The latter of the two gets my vote. It will make people think.

Do something different, get the RUDE BOY checkerboard button that's on his jacket lapel from the Controversy album. Change it to RUDE GIRLif you're so inclined.

If I were to get inked with text, I wouldn't mind something in the Som ett Hus font, available from the Chank Company, whose fonts have been used on various Prince album covers.

A) Actually reflects something about yourself and not the accomplishments/art/face/name/life of a stranger.
B)You decide on yourself.

pleeeeease, don't take a Prince tattoo at all! i don't know how old you are, but what about in 10 year or so, you're not into Prince anymore?!?!?! you walk around with all of titles? THINK, before u take one!

I vote for the Prince.org logo.

And I agree with Matt that text can look good in ink. Of course, I'm biased, since one of my tattoos has text in it. . .but it's all about the font.

I do think, though, that it's possible to look back on a ex-lover's name tattoo as a recognition of one's past. The six years I spent with my ex-wife were a significant portion of my life. However, I recognize that many people won't feel that way and will regret such a tattoo if the relationship is over.

My personal decision has been not to get inked with anyone's name, in large part because I feel it's clichéd. But my tattoo is relationship-related. And I put serious thought into the question of how I would feel if the relationship were to end, especially since the tattoo is on the back of my neck and visible (unless I'm wearing a collared button-down shirt or turtleneck sweater).

Eventually, I asked myself, "How would I feel now if I'd gotten this tattoo during and because of my previous relationship?" And I concluded that I'd be okay with it. In light of that, and other considerations, I had it done, and I have no regrets.

Also, I feel that my "relationship" tattoo is, in part, about me because my current relationship seriously altered the course of my life. I moved over 2,000 miles to a part of the country that I'd never visited before the relationship, and well away from all of my family (aside from a cousin down in Oregon). I walked away from my job, got rid of most of my possessions, and went into business for myself (at least temporarily). The rest of my life will likely be very different than it would have been without my current relationship.

I don't think tattoos are personal - they may be cool though - cool being defined by caring how you look to others - wanting to make an impression. I notice most people with tattoos wear clothing that will show their tattoo. Like the girls that get them on their back - suddenly all their shirts have to be raised in the back to show off their tattoo.

If you truly have something original that you want to portray about yourself - surely putting princes life on your body isn't that.? I'm his #1 fan - but hey !

But yes, I do prefer to have my tattoo visible. Why? Simple: I like the way it looks. It's similar to a piece of jewelry or some other accessory that I'd wear.

My tattoo is personal, in both what it means to me and the role I played in creating the tattoo. I didn't just walk into a tattoo shop, pick a design off the wall ("flash"), and ask them to ink it on me right away. I decided what I wanted my tattoo to represent, and then I did a lot of research to determine how to turn the idea into a picture. Once I had a design in mind, I had Melissa take measurements to figure out the proper size (I wanted the design to "fit" the part of my body where it's placed), and I drew it myself in Adobe Photoshop. I then took my design to my chosen artist and talked with her about how to give the design a little something extra without detracting from the simplicity and boldness. (She suggested some very subtle shading, which turned out nicely.)

If people think it's "cool," great, but that was never my intended result.

I mean no disrespect to those of you who have inked on you somewhere. (And I do think that it's a pretty neat looking symbol... maybe I'd feel differently about tattoos if he hadn't used it as his name for seven years.) It's simply how I feel about what I want on my body.

It's the name thing that makes it weird for me too. If that hadn't been his identity for seven years, I wouldn't care either way. It would still strike me as a bit silly, but not as creepy the way it does now.
