New album for Blue Note?

In the Matos article that is posted he mentions that Prince is recording a new album for the Blue note label. Does anyone have or know any info about this. It's like telling a crackhead there's crack somewhere nearby but not telling you exactly where. Musicology was a small fix, I NEED A BIG FIX. MORE PRINCE PLEASE!

This rumour has been around since not long after Musicology's initial release (I do believe that they were in talks has been substantiated though).

The general consensus has been that the album is Xpectation.

If it does come to fruition, you now our money is spent the second it drops, unless there are some sneaky sneaks who will have it on the illeagal download sites first.

Ya know, as long as he sings on it, I'll give it a chance. Something about hearing the music without that voice is just like the most mean-spirited cock-tease ever

man, if the blue note album consisted of songs like strollin, ballad of dorothy parker and what do you want me to do? it would be a critical success. Prince should stay quirky and unconventional utilizing his own take on jazz and he'll do just fine.

Such is the tradition of the greatest record label of all time.

As with Madlib's utterly brilliant "Shades of Blue," it is a label that would give Prince the room to do his own thing.

I hope it's not just instrumental. I think he's been listening to Norah Jones and is inspired by her. I hope he does that kind of "jazz" album.

I want to hear some melancholy, I'll love your forever even though you are married to someone else I'll know you come back to me sooner or later kind of "jazz" -- more like jazz/blues or something like that. I hope all the songs are in the vain of "Don't Explain," something Nina Simone or Billie Holiday-esque.

Yes, Prince did mention something like that in an interview. If he is indeed going to release an instrumental album, I would really appreciate it if he records it in a studio that has good sound quality. Substandard sound quality might have prevented him from winning a Grammy for the album NEWS.

I think the fact that it's mediocre self indulgent crap that was tossed off in under an hour might have had more to do with it.
