NEW SEPTEMBER 30th ROLLING STONE PRINCE ARTICLE ON THE PHOTOGRAPHS: THE 50 GREATEST PORTRAITS & THE STORIES BEHIND THEM

It says: Prince's first "Rolling Stone" cover story, shot by Richard Avedon, produced this portrait of a twenty-two-year-old sexual provocateur. (He appeared on the cover with his girlfriend and protégée Vanity.) The double album 1999 was nearly platinum; after Prince's first interview to promote it, he announced he would never speak to the press again, preferring to let his music do the talking. But there was no mistaking his intentions: In heavy makeup, with his hair teased into a Little Richard-like pompadour, Prince directed attention to his mouth and his crotch. "You are flying aboard the Seduction 747," he'd say onstage during the 1999 tour. "To activate the flow of excitement, extinguish all clothing materials."

Where's the rest?

I wanna remind ya's that this was the issue with Him and Vanity on the Cover. I Like the Picture of Eddie Murphy doing Prince also. Real Funny how he's grabbing his Crotch. But everybody Always Talked about Prince's VAGINA POSE and I Always Dug when he did that Thing with his Fingers with The V and sticking his Tongue out. Imagine Prince Eating Ya like That? LOl. He will Always Be The Ultimate Horn Dog. I Cannot Understand why He's EVER Gonna Wanna Change That Image. When Ya Perfect why ya Gotta Change? He's the Ultimate Reason for a WET Dream or a Big Ole Hard-On..He is Such The Ultimate Turn-On... Love Mr FOXY! biggrin

Do you have this issue, or did you just find out this was the only info about the photo?

If it's the only info, then it's par for the course for RS. They've fallen and they can't get up.
This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

So, Rolling Stone still thinks Prince was born in 1960? Loooo-sahs. Don't they have a fact checker there? I'd gladly volunteer.

That always cracks me up to think about "American Bandstand," when Prince said he was 19. I'm like, "What's wrong with being in your early 20s?" I didn't get why he felt the need to shave two years off his age. 21 really isn't much different than 19, except you're old enough to drink and hopefully you've grown a few more brain cells. I'm 21 - funny thing is, 19 seems like a while ago now.

Oh, I also think they were trying to make Prince look like the wunderkind/teenage prodigy/genius, but to be that talented at 21 is pretty awesome, too. I don't know what the big deal is, but then again, the music industry often doesn't make sense.

Yeah, not at all. They still do that ALL THE TIME. Like they've been saying Alicia Keys is like 21 or something and the girl's closer to 25.

And yeah, that issue is CLASSIC. But Prince was 24 or 25 when it came out, not 22. It doesn't matter to me though. He could've been 50 at the time and he still would've been excessively talented.
