My recollection so far, is that Prince videos are for the most part "performance" videos. That is Prince playing guitar/piano and singing. For the most part. Not all of them, but most of them. Why is it that Tom Petty, wins a video vanguard award..even Aerosmith won one I believe. Janet Jackson..etc. etc. The point here is, not who's won a video award, but the fact that while Prince's music is far and above superior to everyone elses, but his videos are just so so. There is no killer edge envelope pushing to them. The Beastie Boys do have good videos. So did Blind Melon for god's sake (the bee girl)
What is your opinion as to why Prince is more creative with his videos?
And..Asian Bomb, you are obsessed with Prince's genitalia. Don't deny it. Read all of your posts and post responses.

His "Gett Off" video had a little substance to it. It was modeled after Caligua.

"Raspberry Beret" was pretty creative - and was animated along the lines of that famous A-Ha video "Take Me On"

I always thought P never wanted the video to take away from his music(the TRUE art). So many artist have so-so or downright corny CD's but because the have a good video, it sells. I've always said(not to say they are not talented because they are) i wonder if MJ and Madonna would have been as popular as they are if it were not for their videos. I believe they still would have had success, but would it have been AS MUCH of a success if they relied on their music alone like P. I have to give it to P; he held his own with MJ and Madonna without big budget videos and that is saying a lot nowadays.
