SHOULD PRINCE DO ANOTHER ALBUM WITH THE REVOLUTION?

I THINK THAT THE REVOLUTION WAS HIS BEST GORUP EVER!

Anxiety

i'm kinda through with 80s superstars living out nostalgia dreams. let prince go on and do his own thing, and let the folks in the revolution grow in their own ways. i think bobby and matt would look kind of silly trying to fill the roles they had back in the revolution days, and i think wendy & lisa's work is far beyond the kind of stuff they did with prince in the '80s, though i'm sure any one of the revolutionaries could easily collaborate with prince on something mellow and understated like a "reflection", for example, and it would come out wonderfully. i just don't think we need any "reunion concerts" or anything big like that. it would just be too...too...too VH-1!

I think he's doing just fine without them. Rainbow Children and One Nite Alone Piano are his two greatest albums ever.

I'd like to see him get with his original back up band:

Andre Cymone
Dez Dickerson
Matt Fink
Bobby Z.
Lisa Coleman

I know, I know,.....Gayle Chapman was before Lisa but I prefer Lisa. lol
Andy is a four letter word.

A harsher person might say "Are you mental?" Not me though... oh no, I'd never say that...

How odd? This subject actually came up the other day among friends.

I have mixed feelings. I think the idea isn't such a bad one if the music is progressive and reflective of how they've all grown as musicians/artists. I believe they've all worked with Prince individually at some point post-Revolution, so maybe a Prince album where the Revolution (as a band or seperately) contributed to various songs would be a nice compromise. Don't know...

Speaking of band line-ups I have long thought of this one: an all female band line-up with women he has worked with. Check it:
WENDY MELVOIN: Guitar
RHONDA SMITH: Bass Guitar
LISA COLEMAN: Keyboards
ROSIE GAINES: Keyboards
SHEILA E.: Drums
CANDY DULFER: Saxophone
Les enfants qui mentes ne vont pas paradis

As Prince once said, the very name REVOLUTION was supposed to imply something new, fresh and innovative.

All of which would be meaningless in a Revolution reunion.

Musically, The Revolution was nowhere as talented as the musicians he has around him now. But they had a rawness that just seemed to fit the music back then.

Strange no one ever says, I wish Prince would do another album with the ORIGINAL NPG line-up!

Okay, maybe I went a bit far with that... but they are two of his greatest albums ever. Definetely in the top 10.

I agree with MrSquiggle about ONA and TRC. But after Musicology, I think Prince should really get himself some rest, stop releasing new music and just BREAK THE DAMN VAULT!!!! It's the only thing in prince's past I'm really interested!

The revolution was not Princes best band, they were Princes most popular band, up until now or coarse. I like them all except 4 that 98 lineup. It would be cool 2 see them put out an album 2gether. It would be very interesting 2 see what the sound would be.

I'd like an album where he collaborates with everyone from the past...or anyone who will work with him...

Wendy
Lisa
Sheila
Dez
Fink
Cat
Blackwell
Levi
Andre
Apples
Susan
Brenda
Jill Jones
Sheena
Leeds...etc

the only one I would leave off is Larry.

No, unless the rest of the group outside of Wendy & Lisa need a boost of cash in the bank accounts. And please don't ask that annoying tick from VH1 ( Amher? ) to host the show.

Sure, why not? His distinct sound and most successful work came with them. I'm sure whatever they put together now would be just as, if not more incredible! No one can touch Wendy or Dr. Fink. His bands have all been weak in those 2 sections since they left.

I would love to see Prince, Wendy and Lisa all record a NEW album from scratch.
Prince may be the purple Yoda, but Wendy & Lisa and Eric Leeds also sit on the Jedi Council.

Yes!!! He should do another album with them, because some of the young peopl like me never got to see him in concert with the Revolution, that is one of the many reasons he should.Plus what person from the 80's wouldn't like 2 see them in concert at least one more time?
