Best Paisley Park Non-Prince release???

I'd have to go with 2 of em...

JILL JONES and SHEILA's "Romance 1600"

Though many might oppose....Romance 1600 is a DAMN GOOD album!!!!! "Yellow", "Toy Box" are awesome.....

Honorable Mention..

Mavis Staples-Time Waits For No One
Ingrid Chavez
Every minute of last night is on my face today....

Good Question wink

I'd put in irony tags but the html doesn't extend that far.

Anxiety

So many overlooked gems came out of Paisley Park, and so many more that were stinkers that I love all the same, if for no other reason simply for the nostalgia value.

I think my favorite has to be the Jill Jones album. This is a better Prince album than most of his own albums. It felt like it had the drive and funk and ambition of the Prince albums that were coming out at the time, only with a proxy vocalist at bat. Of course, most all of the songs were rehashed studio outtakes and Purple Rain album rejects, with a Prince cover from his second album thrown in and a couple of Jill Jones-penned collaborations to keep the diva from giving him a subpoena (Purple Rain joke, didja catch it, huh?), but it worked for me all the more because most of the music had some interesting history to it.

Romance 1600 and The Family's album are close runners-up.

My personal favorite is, without question JILL JONES.

My runner-up would be TAJA SEVELLE.

Those are the two I have returned to most often over the years.

"Jill Jones" and "The Family"; I can't choose between the two, each one full of first-rate material.
