PrintableIf I remember correctly several Time members, Revolution memebers, have said that during jam session they would come up with hooks, melodies, and whatnot during Jam session and than come in the next day or month and see a Prince track that had that bit but they weren't given credit for it.
NO ONE CREATES IN A VACUUM people... and to compare everyone to if they didn't write/compose/arrange/perform every instrument they are less than is way out of hand. That's a rare ability. Very few people can do that. Prince George Michael and Stevie Wonder are the only ones I know of who have had major sucess with it. Most who have worked with Madonna admit she comes up with the lyrics and than sings the melodies to them to come up with the music. Live to Tell was given to Madonna as a music track and she wrote the lyrics to that with Patrick Lennoard changing a few to fit the melody better. Songs she didn't write are given full credit to the people who did, do you really think people would sit back and let a woman who has had people questioning her staying power and abilty since day one take credit for something they did? Vanity Fair has stated Madonna is one of the most underappreacted songwrites and producers but that was by her choice of making her art more visual. Her genius lays in her ability to accept her shortcomings and get others to help her out. She always brings out and thanks her producers. All of her RoL Muisc and AL intervies give major thanks to WO and Mirwais. But all Madonna hits have one thing in common and that's Madonna's talent of having the perfect Pop Ear. Knowing what'll work and what won't. I remember not to long Prince was begging Madonna's assitance in getting his masters back. Why? Because he understands the power that Madonna yeilds. It's a granuteed ratings booster to have Madonna on a show. She was at the helm of one of the most successful labels of the 90s. Alanis, Michelle Branch, the Deftones, Wedding SInger sndtk, Austin Powers Sndtrcks, Prodigy, and their first signing a woman named Meshell. She won't whine her way into teh RnR hall of fame... she didn't get a grammy til 98. She doesn't care what the industry thinks of her. check the end of Truth or Dare. Prince was bigger than Madders in 84. so was MJ. They both tried and tried to make it that big again. MJ went insane catching that dream. Prince drove himself into seculsion. Madonna just kept aiming for the next step and kept going. One day after Madonna dies and the dust settles down we'll see that she and Prince will have the lasting impression on Music. Madonna was(still kinda is) a sexy woman. sex sells. she exploited that to the max. very cool. but... her music was alwas just kinda ok. never that great. very sexy stuff she was peddlin,.... i loved it! like Britney Spears, very sexy! but lets just accept it for what it was. Prince on the other hand was always a hard sell, a homo-lookin little strange dude, BUT! his shit was so freekin great,.... people like me overlooked all that because it was so freakin cool, nomatter what anybody said. ok, there it is | |
