This is hands down my favorite version of purple rain ever.. unless I'm confusing this one with the emancipation celebration.. hmm is this the one where he is on his knees making his guitar literally weep? Damn, now I'll have to go watch it again...

No... sounds like you're describing the AMA's from '85... which, to this day, is the best EVER, performed version of Purple Rain.

I agree with you, the AMA '85 version is mind blowing. What I wouldn't do to find another copy of that.

And the DUMBASS Award goes to...

ME! mad

I grew up in Syracuse, and I can remember the night of that show, driving to the Carrier Dome to pick up my friend's girlfriend after the concert. I sat with him in a parking lot going, "Look at all these losers!"

I just didn't get it...

Oh sure, I remember being blown away by the guitar solo in Let's Go Crazy (cause it reminded me of the heavy metal I was immersed in at the time), and commenting on how awesome it was, but beyond that I blew it off as crap. It took me years to get educated, and to really understand.

Since then I have become as obsessed as anyone I have met, and have seen tons of shows, but I still regret missing that opportunity.

Will you all forgive me? sad

What should I do... therapy, penance, reparations?

Always shove your opinion on people? That's YOUR favorite version.

He is right!

No other version comes close 4 emotion and intention. Well cept 4 the Syracuse one itself.
