Prince's Purple Rain look

Prince's look around the Purple Rain time was pretty original with the makeup the big hair the ruffle pirate shirt, the purple coat etc,,,,i wonder how he thought that look up..was he was inspired by some other look? and he modified it..did he want to be a purple pirate with a puffy shirt? i just wonder where he got the look smile

Your kidding me? There were gazillions of "New Romantics" bands around that time. Ruffles and make-up all the way! Prince's look wasn't that original, you know. Don't they teach you anything at school anymore?

Not a fan of them but I think Paul Revere and the Raiders had that look, too. (ruffled shirts and long coats)

It's rumoured that when he went on that short European tour in 1981 he checked out some New Wave clubs in London where New Romantic pioneer Steve Strange & pal Boy George would hang out. He liked the look & incorporated into his outfits.
