Listening to "The Complete Hawaii Tapes," it occurs to me...

It would have added a really funky dimension if RAD had stayed on with the band. That's some church-style funk right there.

Of course, the man is in good form on this one too. Cracks me up when during a fantastic (imo) rendition of "How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore?", P gets the crowd to chant "Horns, come out!" and some drunk guys apparently near the recorder yell, "Horns, show me your fuckin' hooters!!!" smile

For an audience recording though, this is QUITE enjoyable. I pretty much skip audience recordings nowadays, but this one's workin' all right on this Tuesday night, anyway.

If RAD had been there to kick out the solos, then maybe Renato wouldn't have bored me to tears 7 times with the God solo (was that when it was? anyway, during Prince's first costume change) - and THEN when would I have had the time to smoke a bowl in the bathroom? eek
No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

Sex is not love. Love is not sex. Putting words in other people's mouths will only get you elected.

I gotta disagree. I was at all the Hawaii shows & aftershows and even in both shows in Vegas and I didn't feel like she really "fit" in. She never really seemed comfortable when the spotlight was on her. I expect more from the members of Prince's band than I do other bands and I thought she just didn't have that "xtra something" that members of Prince's bands have to have. I'll take Candy singing Fallin' any day of the week over Rad. She's probably great on her own but noth with the NPG. Aloha~
