COME's Letitgo I was going 2 post about this album in somebody else's thread but when I "post-jack", I don't get responses sometimes, so here goes:
First, even though the critics described this album as "half-assed", and just something to put out to burn off his contract w/ Warners, I loved Letitgo, about his deepening feelings about his relationship w/ Mayte. So, I want to ask y'all about one line in this song: "Until now all I wanted 2 do is Do do do what I do, and Bang bang bang on the drummer And love so-and-so But now I've got 2 letitgo..." I think the "drummer" is Sheila E. I don't think he's saying that all he wanted to do was play drums, or music, but "bang his beloved drummer, i.e., Sheila E.", in addition to all his other "so-an-so's". I was wondering if y'all had this take on this song, and if not, please offer u're thoughts on its meaning. I used to ponder and pontificate on the meaning of Prince songs w/ my g/f, who is the one who got me into him on a serious level w/ PR, whereas I had been a casual fan since For You. She stopped liking him after SOTT I think, so I rely on the org for these type of conversations, since this Musicology tour has me all obsessed w/ him again( I fell off after the Gold Experience). Is that a cross between monotony and monogamy? | |
