Wow... i hope that's true smile

I'm really drawn 2that song2... I think the general public will feel the vibe2 & respond nicely, don't know about critics tho.

2me the song reminds me of The Beautiful 1s... it2 starts off with a lazy flow of melody, then a dry lament is poured on & swirls the instruments in2 bursts of emotion! cool & let's not 4get the outcry of "baby baby baby..."

Man while listening 2 AMD I spin in as many of the same directions that I do when hearing TB1, I can't help it hehe. wink

Keep us updated if u can biggrin

That's great news! I don't care what the song is, just as long as there's another song to come out, I'm happy. I remember around May or June a lot of people here wanted A Million Days to be the next single so it looks like it may happen.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I'd love to see "A Million Days" be the next video. I'm not one of those that considered it weak. I think "A Million Days" and "Cinnamon Girl" are the strongest tracks on the album. They were the first two to catch my ear.

Yeah, I'm thinking...this will be the next BIG PRINCE VIDEO on MTV and Vh1!

Musicology was all over the place, across the board...Call My Name was Vh1 Video of the Week, and lasted a month on the channels playlist....

BET played the hell out of it!!!
plus urban radio played the hell out of it and still is!

Now 'A Million Days'...I think POP radio is ready!!!
Plus MTV, VH1 and Bet will jump on this, but I think it will get more support from VH1!

I'm excited about this video, should be great, especially the fall is here..and GRAMMY Nominations are coming up too.

GO PRINCE

A Million Days is a good one to release next. I can't wait to see him say, "Wish I had somebody to blame ..." and then the screaming at the end. I can't wait!!

Me three! I would love to see Prince perform The Marrying Kind/If I was the Man in Yo Life. A Million Days is just ok shrug I do like the end though.

If this is indeed true, it's good to hear a video'll be made for it. However, methnks it's a tad too late. Anyone else agree? Musicology failed as a decent leading single, and Call My Name didn't even get played on MTV and, what, maybe two weeks on VH1 (though its airplay on Urban radio is halfway decent). I think the Prince "comeback" (what the media likes to call it) tour has officially said "bye bye" once these US dates are done. A Million Days should've been the FIRST single from this CD, or at least following Musicology VERY closely, since it appeared no one was really getting into that song (not for lead-single status anyway). Now that his "comeback" is old news now, MTV & radio stations will be hard pressed to play anything else or "new" from this album, no matter how great the song is (which, if ya couldn't tell, I feel AMD is)!!!!

Who is this song about? Manuela, or Mayte? This was discussed in another thread, but I don't think the answer was resolved....

I like the part on the CMN video when he sings about the moon having no flaws. He has a really vulnerable look and stance in that scene. I like it when he's not all "big and bad", like he knows everything. it's like he let his guard down, or something w/ that scene. That alone, made me love that video.

Funny how he always has failed to consider blaming HIMSELF when his relationships end, both personally, and professionally.

Alex...how can you sound so shallow about this song being released...and half way decent urban play LOL

Um...In Detroit, which is a very big market, the song CALL MY NAME, is played every hour on 3 radio stations.

plus some hip hop stations have the song in rotation...not to mention the album went # 1 on michigans local album charts.

Of course this is just one market, but I have friends all over and theyve heard call my name and love it!

So 'A Million DAYS' can very well sell this record even more.
Mtv was all over MUSICOLOGY which wasn't a poor first single, it wasn't radio friendly as Cream or The Most Beautiful, but who wants him to repeat himself?
CERTAINLY NOT ME!

Just like Santana, his album was out a year before anyone took notice!
But the fact that theres been a buzz surrounding the album since its release, plus the tour and its hype...and thou "Call My Name"...wasn't a big mtv hit!
BET still played this video over and over again...so don't BET COUNT?

It should, because Hip Hop and R&B, are todays hottest genres of music thats Top selling!

Oh this will be great!

I'm listening to this song right now. Sure, there are others I like better BUT this is infectitious and will be much more relatable than Cinnamon Girl right now.

And the rock vibe and screams are exactly what's been craved since he rocked out on the Grammys and RRHOF.

Plus, it's short and sweet -- perfect for radio.

Please let this single and video take off -- it has sooo much potential and should have been unleashed long ago.

I also live in Detroit and I have heard CMN on 3 station almost at the exact same time (I work the midnight shift and listen late at night).
I hear it so much that I will sing it without even hearing it play because it is stuck in my head.

I personally didn't like CMN until I heard it live at the Joe. mushy

It'd be cool if he wasn't following up a ballad whining about how many days/hours he's been away from some chick with another ballad whining about how many days/hours he's been away from some chick. Cinnamon Girl was the OBVIOUS next single. Another good choice woulda been "If I was the Man in UR Life." Does Prince want to pigeonhole himself as an adult contemporary artist? Last I heard, he was funk. This will really make me mad, if it actually happens.

My name is Prince ... and I am contemporary!

Luv & Peace,

Oh, it's not about sounding or being shallow, just reality!! Call My Name was great for the urban radio market (though it never really truly "turned it out" either), but it's really not helping the album make a dent in the marketplace. Can I back that up with sales & figures? Nope. But I can tell you that isn't being made into or called that new Prince slow groove that you just gotta hear. I'm comparing this "word on the street" stuff I've heard versus, say, Scandalous or Insatiable when those were being strategically released.

Again, AMD should've been the first single, end of discussion. Musicology's response was lukewarm, at best, and the ONLY reason it got played AT ALL on any of the video stations is because Sony did a little payola action! BET doesn't really count, sorry to say. Cuz if CMN was THAT hot after being played on there over and over again, the other two would've picked it up by now. I, personally, dig CMN, but as far as being a nationwide, certifiable "hit", it wasn't. And you can't deny that.

Do I want him to repeat himself? Of course not. Which one of us die-hards really do? Though, I will say I don't mind him "revisiting" certain areas of his brilliance (funk/R&B/rock hybrids) AND there are certain successful marketing and/or business paths/strategies that he's traveled down already, so he shouldalready know what works for him & what doesn't. wink There's one thing that'll always be tried and true...ALWAYS release the best music/song FIRST!! LMAO! And Musicology was just a poor, poor choice (besides for the reason of getting that term and name out there since it was the name of the tour and album) for a leading single.

People keep talking about Santana and bringing that example up when it comes to adopting the attitude of "it's never too late to market something", and I say continuing to use this example is hogwash!! Supernatural was like lightening in a bottle! That'll RARELY ever happen again with another artist, so don't even think it could or would apply tp Prince or his latest album. Just trying to get you to face facts, see reality, bruh.

Well Alex, its not Late in my opinion (bruh).
I'm not like everyone who uses SANTANA as an example...
Prince still has a chance!!!

The Tour, The Press, The Interest PROVES IT ALL!
I still say...Prince has a chance.
He's proved he can move hundreds of thousands of copies without concert sells to get the #3 position on the chart, he also can get a video played several times on mtv.
Mtv still couldve ignored him PERIOD!

He got a nod from the VMA's, press all over the show, the cd and his next single could refresh this cd!

Just stating I think he could gain more momentum with the next single.
thats all!
