This IS Church! (Sort of a Review of the Mar.30 D.C. Show)

Wow, where 2 start? Okay, met some really kool peeps in line, Jackie, the girlz with the jackets (u know who u r), jessica, all u guyz are awesome. We went in2 the soundcheck around 5:45, after a slight debacle regarding ticket pick up times, and being charged $3 for strings on which 2 hang our laminates (oh lawd confused). The soundcheck was incredible. Larry was onstage 4 most of it. When we walked in Prince had his back 2 us. Personally, I think he was waiting until most of us were seated. When he turned around he had the best "Oh wow I'm so surprised look" on his face. He played a snippet of Alphabet St., and asked about the protests going on outside, and he made a comment something like "This is an interesting city 2 be in while all this is going on." He took a walk around the theatre checking the acoustics and then he SAT DOWN RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME AND STARTED TALKING 2 US.
I was very nervous I was going 2 develop a serious case of PPS (Prince Proximity Syndrome), and start babbling like a fool, but thankfully I kept my composure. He let the girls in front of me pick some insence. His reaction 2 one choice was "Eew!" While he was sitting in front of me, he sang Extraordinary, and everyone almost lost it. HIS FALSETTO WAS AMAZING!! His voice truly sounds better than it ever has, and I am NOT just saying that. At the end of the soundcheck he played all of Beautiful Strange, which involved one of the nastier guitar solos I've heard in my life. After that we left 2 go back outside while they prepared for the show.
I can't remember a specific setlist, but here is some of what he played.

Rainbow Children
Muse 2 The Pharoah
Mellow
1+1+1=3/Love Rollercoaster
Avalanche
Xenophobia
Strange Relationship
Santana Medley
Adore (piano & voice)
I Wanna Be U're Lover(piano & voice)
How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore
Do Me, Baby (Piano & voice)

U get the idea. During the piano medley, he said he didn't want 2 keep us up 2 late because it was Easter 2morrow and we had 2 go 2 church. I shouted "This IS Church!!" So if any1 heard that, that was me smile. WHAT A SHOW!!!! Every1 that I talk 2 loved it. The afterparty was okay, I just wished that they would have played some Prince jamz! Its a Prince afterparty and they were playing P.Diddy and Juvenile and all sorts of nonsense. But anyway, what an evening! I can't wait 2 go 2 another show on this tour. THIS SHOW IS NOT 2 BE MISSED!!

I'm beginning to think the One Night Alone concert is one of those Prince concerts that has to be seen at least twice in order to be fully appreciated. Because of the new material being played, I think it's almost like listening to a new album... it kinda has to grow on you.

I saw the show on the first leg of the tour, and it was awesome then. But now, on the second leg, fans are getting the benefit of a show that has been tweaked to get all the bugs out, and plus - as if it were possible, I think the band is probably getting into a tighter groove now as they all get used to playing together in a live setting. I just hope I get another chance to see the show again.

Alex did I meet u in front of the theatre? Oh yeah, and BTW people, after listening 2 Alicia Keys's version of How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore on the radio this morning, I am more convinced than ever that PRINCE IS THE ONLY PERSON WHO SHOULD EVER BE ALLOWED 2 PLAY THAT SONG! His version of it on the 30th was heart-stopping!
