A sellout album? Who sells out by putting out a 3 disc album? My first Prince album I ever bought, and the album Prince was born to make...

QUIT SAVING EMANCIPATION! Maybe Prince wasn't that good of an album, but at least he wasn't selling his soul. Emancipation sounds like N'Sync or Britney Spears with better vocals. C'mon, man, let the triple-threat die (just like the public did).

Well Alex, even only the second disc of Emancipation alone will beat most of the albums still on the list, just compare that disc for instance with Musicology or TRC! . The fact that the public let it pass by was the fact that Emacipation focused on a different experience..(specially disc 2)..i mean how many people nowadays can relate to emotions expressed in: The holy river, lets have a baby, soul sanctuary?..but because of songs like these Emancipation is a favorite album for many of us...i am sure...

The Rainbow Children blows the second disc of Emancipation away. I also like Musicology better, but can see where someone could argue that it was a less adventurous record. But what's so daring or bold about filling a disc up with a bunch of ballads and light pop songs about having a kid?

The only room Emancipation would fill up would be the maternity ward.

To me, that's what disc 2 of Emancipation sounds like. It's as radio friendly as Prince has ever been. The lyrics are ridiculously uninspired and sappy. The only time I listen to it is when I need mellow music to fall asleep to (I'm not being sarcastic, that really is the only time I put the disc in, anymore).

If you fought for disc 3, I think you'd have more of an argument. That is the funkier, bolder Prince we knew and loved in the 90s. At least disc 3 has songs you can dance to. I don't know, it's all a matter of opinion. I think The Rainbow Children is one or Prince's best (maybe it IS his best) and you seem to really "gett off" on disc 2 of Emancipation. 2 each their own, but don't even you think disc 2 is just too damn mellow???

Luv & Peace,
Alex
