Holy SHIT I'm gettin old!!!!

Picture it.....Phoenix...1987...a young boy ditches the 7th grade and takes a bus to the nearest Tower Records to buy the masterpiece that is SIGN O THE TIMES....on VINYL!!!

I remember not wanting to take the wrapping off so that I wouldnt ruin the baby blue heart sticker that was on the wrap....(I ended cutting that out and taping to my bedroom window...)

I took the city bus back home and for the next few hours I was entranced by the most amazing music I had ever heard! I remember dancing my ASS off to "Housequake" and the beauty of "Dorothy Parker" almost drove me to tears.....

I ended up repeating Record 2/Side 1 a couple times before getting to the last side...."U Got The Look", "If I Was Your GF","Strange Relationship","ICNTTPOYM" became my favorite side instantly! "I Could Never..." was my favorite of all...I remember playing air guitar to that mutha.....

Ahhh.....GOOD TIMES...GOOD TIMES!!!

Then my mother came home from work...grounded me for ditching and took my record away for a week!!!!! I knew all of her hiding places and still got to hear the album all night with my headphones on and a smile from ear 2 ear!!!!!

GREAT MUSIC IS TRULY MAGICAL.....Sign O The Time proved that then and still does NOW!!!!
Every minute of last night is on my face today....

I love that album so much I named a summer after it. I was 7 when it came out but my older brother and all his friends played it all the time. I have my own copy now and Adore is my favorite ballad of all times!!!
I'm an org elitist... totally unapproachable.

Funny - I was just listening to Disc 1 yesterday & this morning & as I listened to Hot Thing, I remembered back to 1986 (17 yrs old), sittin w/my so called boyfriend who was trying to teach me the bass strum to that song, just the 3 chords, dun, duh duh...
it was funny...
wow - Adore for the first time, then over & over...
falling in love with the song Ballad of Dorothy Parker... this is my favorite song, ever
brrrrring, phone rang & she said, "who eva's callin - can't be as cute as you.", Right then & there I knew I was through!
Rollerskating to 'HouseQuake' & wishing they would play it again & again... boom, what was that?, AfterShock
wanting to 'make slow love' to that so called boyfriend for the first time (but never did!)
'If I was your girlfriend?' taught me all kinds of new sensualities ...
*I remember when the rocketship exploded - I was watching it at school, on t.v.*
I could go on & on - Sign of The Times is my favorite album!

ahh, the spring of 1987... 16 years old

I remember leaving London and heading to Utrecht to see the SOTT show. I dragged a friend who didn't like Prince and he thought it was great.

By the time our 4 day trip was over, he couldn't stop playing ICNTTPOYM. That was my song for the summer.

My god im old, i was 14 years old, what a trendy 14 year old i was. Good taste or what? What an album, played it to death.

The only thing which disappointed me was the fact that the concert was canceled in the UK -gutted, it was one show i wanted to see second only to Lovesexy in my book!

Ya know, I got my SOTT with me today. It sounds tinny and faraway. Prince definitely needs to make amends and get the WB catalog reissued w/ hi-bit remastering. From a pure audio engneering POV, his stuff sounds kinda sad.

Vault TRaCKS and informative notes are absolutely mandatory. Oughta just do like Sony did with Miles and do multi-disc box sets for each period of his career.

Hmm that's good enough for a thread of its own.....
