Usher (in which i think is the most pig-headed celebrity out there) reps MJ always. He relicated Michael.

But on his new album "Confessions"

track 15 entitled "Do It To Me" sounds an awful lot like Prince's "The Beautiful Ones"

has anyone heard it? if you haven't, i def. recommend listening to it and rate it here 4 me.. stank u very much :smooch:

* Yes, I noticed as soon as the album came out that Usher steals the music to the Beautiful Ones for this song. And therefore, I actually cannot listen to this song -- lest I seethe with so much anger that I combust!

* Why be angry? Isn't it just a sample? Well, Usher sure as hell doesn't give Prince credits in the liner notes. It's as if the music is orginal. That's morally reprehensible.
And it actually doesn't sound like a sample to me. It sounds like a near copy but with something missing -- like that Vanilla Ice-Rick James shit. I've prayed for Prince to sue Usher over this. The music is so moving, I'd hate for someone to relate it simply to that Usher song.

* Anyway, glad you brought this up ... even though some have misunderstood the angle of the thread and think you're comparising Usher to PRince sad

Those two should/would bow out of this competition because they know who the most creative is...25 years to LIFE...compared to 10 and ?
the two of them know they got some of there lyrics and music from our guy...Usher and R Kelly don't be a fool...stay away from PRINCE ROGERS NELSON

eye'm sure u mean MC Hammer-Rick James / Vanilla Ice-Queen & Bowie

and thank u 4 reading being the misunderstanding.

eye am not trying to compare Usher 2 Prince, in which there is really no comparision 2 look apon. Without Prince, there would b no Usher, there would b no Alicia Keys, Maxwell, even Lenny Kravitz 4 that matter. But then again, there would b no Prince if it weren't 4 Sly, James, and Hendrix.

In Usher's liner notes, he fails 2 give credit 2 P. I just felt like pointing out 2 the org that this is what Prince is trying 2 tell us throughout his whole Musicology tour. Give credit where credit is due. Real musicians make their own music. They don't sample. If eye ever wanted or desired 2 listen 2 Usher, eye would much rather hear what he's got going on creatively in his own mind, not Prince's. eye've already heard The Beautiful Ones, eye don't need 2 hear it's beat with shitty lyrics thrown on top of it. This is the point eye am simply trying 2 make.

Thank U

I didn't notice the riff until you guys mentioned it. That is criminal what he did to the song. I skipped all of the songs I did not like. Hell I didn't know Usher had that many tracks on his album. Glad I didn't buy it!

After the VMAs I went to our church. I'm not a spiritual guy, but I felt that I had to go and the priest said to me, "You don't have to be afraid to watch MTV, its alright. But beware, there is one thing that will bring you straight to the gates of hell. Never - never ever son start listening to Usher." eek

This album is well overplayed, but it is a good album. My favorite on the album is "Throwback" and "Superstar". They are r&b at its best (to me anyway). I think that his album is great. It's not the best I've ever bought, but it is good.

Usher is mediocre. The fact that he sells so much tells me about the power of knowing the right people in the business and that most people who listen to radio take it seriously.

He's done a couple of songs that are cool but please. If Usher did a poor tribute to Prince all I can say is that he has good taste. But I don't care for his latest wack songs about dysfunctional relationships, his stupid outfits or his contrived dance routines.

I agree with most that he shouldn't even be mentioned on the same board with Prince but this is the thing that P has been critical of all along. Talentless people like Usher convincing others that he is an artist because he sells a lot.....

That's my short-end rant on Usher. He never did anything to me but messing up a Prince song is bad.
