PRINCE'S BEST/WORST TOUR

ive only had the chance to attend three tours
jam of the year, hit n run , musicology however ive seen
videos of most of the other tours. i think the best
tour is Lovesexy. The band was incredible and Prince imo
was at hsi peak. On the other hadn his worst tour was
Jam of the year imo. The band was weak and Prince didnt
seem all that into it. It was still exciting to see him on this
tour but he seemed out of energy and the set list seemd half
assed espcially considering he just released Emancipation
and he played little from it. peace y'all

Anxiety

i thought that the jam of the year tour was salvageable enough...not the best, but not horrible either. i think the worst tour was that mess with larry graham and doug e. fresh, or maybe even the hit'n'run tour he did after rave came out...he shoulda just called it the "i give up" tour, eeg.

Bollocks to all of you.

The ONA tour was definitely the best Prince tour ever.

Purple Rain tour I would say the best yet I didn't go just watch it live, and I wish I was there to attend. The worst I don't know.

Pagey

I've been to a lot of Prince shows in my life. The 1st one was during the Purple Rain tour and the most recent was Musicology (but unfortunately missed one night alone...still bummed about that one).

The Best? It's close, really liked Parade in Detroit, Lovesexy in Chicago, Jam of The Year (which I thought was amazing...Face Down kicked ass live)...but of all of 'em? I think the best for overall entertainment and musicianship I think was Musicology. His attitude towards the crowd, the songs, the band, John Blackwell, and his playing just made an awesome show from beginning to end.

The worst? I admit that tour with Larry Graham and Chaka Kahn kinda sucked...I had a great time at the show, but it was disappointing that he played so many Sly Stone songs. I also wasn't all that crazy over the purple rain show...given I was 14 but I that whole section when he "talked" to God was over-induldgent and boring. I remember thinking why is this guy so special...then he kicked my ass once Computer Blue started and the rest of the show rocked.

Lovesexy was best (although Musicology so so close), and the Jam of the Year probably the least interesting.

I liked the rebel attitude and the brandnew songs during the Gold Experience tour ( in Europe)
I also loved the ONA tour...probably one of his best tours ever...
and , from what I have on official and unofficial DVDs, Parade,Sign of the Tiems and Lovesexy are great.....but I really, really enjoyed ONA to the fullest, and casual fans who knew Lovesexy and SOTT from the official VHS tapes were equally impressed by the ONA tour...

Best: Lovesexy -- including the aftershows. Eye No. wink

edit: oh, and worst goes to anything during that dark phase of his music 1993-1995 (not counting Gold Experience) -- i didn't like the "feel" of that period, if ya know what i mean

BEST TOUR EVER IS THE CONTROVERSY-TOUR ....
CLOSELY FOLLOWED BY THE DIRTY MIND-TOUR

Everyone with a different opinion:
either you don't know these two tours or ..... you're totally lost!
The other shows don't come close to those ultimate concert-tours.

worst ... D&P and the Act I

Best: Lovesexy. Ona was wonderful too and musically VERY good, especially the whole soundcheck/show/aftershow thing.

Worst: Don't know. I enjoyed all Prince shows I witnessed (or saw on video/dvd)

So most of ya’ll prefer an old guy revisiting his glory days (Musicology) …. or walking a path that isn’t ment for him (f*ckin’ jazz and boring piano-medley’s during the ONA-tour) …..

What about a young rebel making a huge statement, and redefining the FUNK ????

He is FAR from a Vegas act, this tour has brought new life to his incredible cataloge.
Prince may be the purple Yoda, but Wendy & Lisa and Eric Leeds also sit on the Jedi Council.

I kinda liked all the dancing and showmanship -- or should I say more experienced muscianship (vocals, instruments, tighter band, etc) of the post-Controversy Days -- 1999 thru Lovesexy. I've seen a copy of the Dirty Mind tour -- it's great for what it was, and awesome for what he was at the time -- but he improved hugely on that (as well he should have) a few years later.

I only heard that DVD in Vegas. I had a bootleg of Lovesexy and another of Sign 'o' the Times. I had the DVD of Rave Un2 the Year 2000 and I attended numerous concerts at Paisley Park and the Musicology tour. I'd rank the shows in this order:

Musicology
Lovesexy
That Vegas Thing
Sign 'O' The Times
Rave Un2 the Year 2000

I hated that Rave concert. It was lame.

I'm not going to count the Paisley shows, cuz I saw 2 many and distinctly remember 2 few.

I just have to say that I've seen "Lovesexy" on video, admittedly not live, but I thought it sucks balls. The mini-skirt he was wearing, the ridiculous skits with the swing set, the furiously fast pace of "Jack U Off" and "Sister". It was more like a Madonna show. Really overrated, no offense y'all. Lovesexy gets my vote for the worst tour.

Even the "Jam of the Year" tour was better than that. Though I really really wish I could've seen the "Parade" or "Sign of the Times" shows, since I think he was at his zenith for what I've heard from those shows. (I'd especially love to see a video of the "Parade" show).

The Musicology Tour is great, but although I love the horns, it's still a little too Vegas-y. I've been a fan for 20 years, so I ain't clamoring to hear the old stuff.

I have to say that the One Night Alone Tour is the best that I've seen.

The Hit & Run tour of 2000 (?) was my least favorite concert. The vibe of the show was very low key (comparitively speaking), and many arrangements were leftovers from the JOTY tour.

The best I think is Musicology. It may be too slick for some people, but there's not a dull moment, and he plays the songs people want to hear. The crowd energy was unbelievable. Also, his annoying habit of turning on the house lights seemed incorporated into the show better.

Somewhere in between were Purple Rain & Lovesexy, which were great moments in Prince's career (commercially & artistically, respectively), but lacked some of the flow of Musicology.

Can't a man have his own opinion. I just did not like the Lovesexy, Dirty Mind/Controversy tours. They did not have the showmanship like Musicology

Oh yeah, the Live at the Alladin show was the next best concert ever
