That's it; I'm obsessed!

I was always a big Prince fan, but after seeing his show for the first time last week, I'm completely hooked. I can't get enough of him, and the concert is just starting to sink in. I can't even describe how I felt, he is just so amazing. There are no words for it, it gave me such a high! He was just so incredible, and I cried because his music and performance touched me so much that it was all I could do!

As soon as I get my next paycheck, I have to add to my Prince music collection. Where should I start? I already have most of the basics (Purple Rain, 1999, SOTT, Controversy, Dirty Mind, TRC, Musicology). Any suggestions? I'm already planning on getting Crystal Ball if only for "She Gave Her Angels" (love LOVE that song!)

You're gonna be seeing a lot more of me in this section of the Org!

Oh, I've been obsessed!

Well, don't forget to add PRINCE and LOVESEXY to your collection. You'll be more than obsessed when you hear him singing, "Bambi" and "It's Gonna be Lonely" on the PRINCE CD. Listen to how he says, "The only bummer is that you always want to leave-vah" on "It's Gonna be Lonely" -- he sounds so cute!! And the picture in the inside cover -- yum!!

You're a virtual stranger over here...lol wink

LOVESEXY....so many great lines. Try to hunt down the tracked version though.

Since you're a Jan fan, I think you might like NEWPOWER SOUL...it's got some
funky dance hits and some great slow jams. Alot of people don't like it, but I
tend to think for myself. wink

Anyhoo, as far as albums go, I think go ahead and get both his second self-titled album, and Parade. While I don't consider either of these two as his best albums (your collection already contains the ones I consider top tier), if you ask me these two are also worth owning for any self respecting Prince fan.

Crystal Ball is a bunch of thrown together songs that were circulating, I'm not saying you shouldn't get it if you want (there definitely are some good songs on it), but to me the gem of the set is The Truth album, which is basically an acoustic disc.

I'm part of the obsess group as well!

I always thought he was talented, but after I saw him for the first time at the Press Conference in Feb. , I've been obsessing to the point that I think I'm sick! I painted my room purple and covered the walls with Prince posters, I got Prince pillows on Ebay and a purple bedspread.

I only play Prince in my car... mostly. If my friends request jazz, I play Prince. If they request Rap, I play Prince. If they request rock, I play Prince... ITS GREAT!

Now, for your collection, you HAVE to get a hold of THE GOLD EXPERIENCE... I found it back in January for 3 bucks on amazon.com.

It looks like there are quite a few of us who have had the same experience from the Musicology tour and can relate. I was a huge fan back in the day and a Lovesexy tour survivor. I lost touch around Diamonds & Pearls and now I'm back. The love just hit me once I was at the show. Just call us the newly or renewed obsessed!

I like parts of all of the CDs I "missed" (except Chaos & Disorder), but my favorite all-around release during the "lost period for me" is "Come." Otherwise, I'd recommend Lovesexy & Prince (2nd album) to the original poster.

I am right there with ya'll! I just can't get enough. P is making me go broke...the dvd's, plus I bought live in Vegas, today I bought the Hawaii photo book & The Vault book. I discovered Prince in 1982 when 1999 came out, I was 11. I was obsessed with him then, and I'm obsessed with him all over again because of the 2 shows I saw in Boston. It was the first time seeing him and I'm just glowing over it.

I love that man! He's a genious!!

It's definitely up to individual taste, and my taste changes almost daily. But I gotta back up the Parade lovers here (and lately, the Black Album) as the one to get next.

True! I refuse to listen to his CD's at work, can't get any work done!music

Also I have to sometimes put myself on punishment and lay off Prince's music so I don't get too carried away like I did once. lol

After the Musicology concert, I have started to collect all of the CD's because I think they all have at least on gem.

Me, either! I can't get work done cos I keep going back to a certain part in a song just to hear him say something and oh, I just get so far behind in work.

But sometimes I can't listen to him cos I'm wishing, man why didn't I grow up in Minneapolis around this time and went to his high school and saw all this in action with my own eyes.

Well, well, there I go dreaming again!

Anyway, I have to lay off PRINCE, sometimes, too cos I just get that "I must have him" feeling all over again!

Oh, I get carried away and often, it's bad (but good!). I can't go a day without hearing AT LEAST one Prince song. BUT I CAN'T just listen to one. I don't know how my hubby (if I ever marry) will deal with me and this obsession.

I saw Prince for the first time live on 08/09, and I've been obsessed every since. I've spent probaby $150 on CDs and DVDs in less than a month and I haven't even put a dent in my collection.

Ditto! Though I was much older I will never forget my platforms and "warm fuzzies" after watching Purple Rain in the theater...with the wrong person! It was sometime after Diamonds and Pearls and LIFE that I too lost touch....but I am back with a vengence....and so glad to know there are others out there who understand! Some orger termed it (I believe) the Prince Post Concert Disorder (PPCD) (Vegas and Denver -the best!) and this is the best support group for it!
I've also started buying CD's and "stuff"...
