It was proposed earlier this year, but scrapped in favour of just putting it all up for download in the musicology store.

It was called 'The Chocolate Invasion' containing:

>1. C-note
>2. xpectation
>3. ona solo piano & voice
>4. chocolate invasion: trax from npgmc volume 1
>5. slaughterhouse: trax from npgmc volume 2
>6. glam slam club mix
>7. the war

All previously released through the club.

From memory, I can't remember what the GS Club mix was, anyone know - was it the DJ Dudley disc?

It was announced as a future release by NPGMC at one stage and then a 'technical glitch' (they never explained what that meant) meant that it was delayed for the forseeable future (i.e. never likely to see the light of day).

Yeah - it was a mix subsequently split into smaller bits and played in the "Glam Slam Club" room (official NPGMC website) on successive weekends (I believe)

It was previously released as part of one of NPGMC ahdio shows #11:

P Control
The Human Body
Hot Wit U (Nasty Girl Remix)
New World
Partyman
Raspberry Beret
High
Undisputed
Prettyman
The Work Pt. 1

From memory, the 'Hot Wit U' version is not the same 'Nasty Girl Remix' as any previously released CD version - as it has extra lyrics (i.e. it isn't different solely as a result of this mix).

And that tech glitch would probably be someone whispering in his ear "DO NOT RELEASE A SPAWLING 7-DISC COMP". It would also cost ALOT of money to produce...and would cost us upwards of 60 dollars. He made the better move by letting them be online. Though he ought to do something like ...for a few x-tra bucks you can get the album on CD. It's not THAT hard to do.

I would gladly pay a few extra bucks to have those albums on CD. My computer is a mac so I don't think the downloading thing will work.

I think that once Prince squeezes
every last cent he can from the downloads
he will make them available as cds
so he can make a little more $$$ off them.

Here's hoping.

I recall there seemed to be a mock-up at the time of a chocolate-coloured CD case that might have been designed to house 7 CDs.

For the record, here's the wording from NPGMC from November, 2003:

"The Chocolate Invasion is put on hold 4 now, indefinitely. There was a problem with the manufacturing and until the bug is worked out, we'd rather not have u wondering when ur home would b invaded. As soon as we have any new info 2 report, u will b notified immediately. The members of the NPGMC deserve the best, thank u 4 ur patience."
