Rave Un2 The Year 2000-dvd-Disappointing

I just got the dvd and it was pretty good, but in my opinion, there were too many guests, not enough actual singing, not really any prince songs worth not except purple rain, raspberry beret, and take me with u. Plus they cut out 1999 at the end and put on the credits! mad

Technically it's a very good DVD... I think it was outstanding at the time it was released. It was one of the first DD 5.1 / DTS concert DVD's. I wish the ONA Vegas got the production this DVD got... the Vegas DVD would have been a blast!

I think I may have a different version of this dvd than some of you, because some of the songs you are listing are not on the one I have. The one I have was directly imported from china and has chinese and english writing on it and in the features section. The singing is in english though. I also do not have any interviews or anything like that.

Both DVD's are a bit rubbish.

Live at the Aladdin is WAY too short. And the setlist is shit.

There were a few songs that were performed on this DVD that I liked, but overall I don't care much for it. A non-fan friend bought it for my birthday and she liked it ( a bad sign, since she doesn't like Prince) That damn annoying bald dancer was distracting as well.

I do like the short ass version of "She's Always in my Hair" and of course the nice 11 minute version of "Purple Rain" Although I like Lenny Kravitz, I didn't really care for the songs he and P did together.Oh, and did I mention that bald woman doing slow motion gymnastic floor routines?
I shouldn't complain though since it was a gift. smile

Did u understand the real meaning of love?

I never got round to buying it. But I've been living with my bf for 8 months now and he has
it. We watched a little bit of it but in the end I just couldn't sit through more than 15 mins,
and haven't had the courage to watch it since.

Same thing with the Alladin DVD. It could have been quite showstopping, had he included
the entire concert, instead of just a few songs.

Plus: Where the hell was DaysOfWild??? (both on the cd and the dvd)

Seems like he just doesn't get round to releasing a great concertfilm anymore with a half
decent tracklist made up out of full renditions of songs and WITHOUT a truckload of feat
artists.

I bought "Rave" awhile ago and did not like it when I first got it. I watched it last night and it is pretty good. First off Prince looks sooo fine with that long hair!! love2

I liked a lot of the set list and P was wonderful. Could have done without LG and the backup dancers. The camera work got on my nerves after awhile, flashing here and there. I wanted to see Prince!!! Anyway, overall, it's a pretty good dvd. And I love the video for Greatest Romance! wink

I liked it 2, although it pissed me off when prince asked that black dude to introduce maceo parker in the blues medley, his voice went straight through me. At the risk of sounding queer i actually enjoyed the dance routine to "baby knows" which involved alot of butt swinging leg twisting action.

I really liked it, in fact in some ways I liked it better than the Sign O' the Times movie. I liked that he brought in a lot of guest stars and performed songs other than his own. I'd rather hear a good GCS or Sly tune than a mediocre prince one any day. Plus, it made me respect the talent of Prince's band and other cohorts more. Prince maybe multi-talented himself, but it's the band that makes his shows great.

I recently bought the DVD too. Likewise, I was a little disappointed. I hated Prince's shiny one-piece suits and his one loop earring! sad Not to mention those dancers that added nothing to the show for me. However, I have to admit that his hair was nice. That layered cut and those highlights were just right!

The music was good though overall. Either way, I love to watch him play guitar. It's alluring. touched

But call me a hypocrite because I will watch it again, and like a true Gemini, I may change my mind.

I think it was a cool concert...I would have loved to be there. But Way too much time devoted to Larry Graham and his Sly and the Family tribute. WHo cares? we want P! While I'm on the topic, what was George Clinton doing on stage other than tripping out on Coke.?!?

I'll probably have a couple little sexies on the stand-by, and we don't want to upset them, do we? So you just glide by me and say...what?

i liked it better than "live at the aladdin" because P did more dancing and screaming in this one. I can feel what you are saying about the too many guests thing, but i loved it when P and lenny kravitz were up on stage, they have a good chemistry with songs. I thought it was cute seeing lenny up there with his idol.

plus "she's always in my hair" had to have been like the tightest performance on there next to "nothing compares 2 u".
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I did like she's always in my hair, and the speech he made before Purple Rain, and "Fly Away" with Lenny.
