Roadhouse Garden I heard this was a meant to be an album of Revolution leftovers Prince wanted to release a few years ago but the project was later abandoned or postponed. Is this true?
And does anyone here have any info on the proposed tracklisting for this project, and has Prince or anyone associated with him said if it will ever see the light of day? Did Prince just lose interest, too busy, too much work, religious beleifs or what? It's just that the thought of such a release makes so much sense it would probably be a big success so I'm curious as to what happened.

I think they mention something about that during the mtv kurt loder interview back in 99. I got the impression that prince lost intrest.

I've decided to truncate my response to common questions, so:
1998. No tracklist other than a few tracks - All My Dreams, Witness, stuff like that. Prince fluffed up the P/W/L re-union with his ego. Lendy/Wisa insult on L4OA. Probably best they didn't release it, let's enjoy the tracks in their original 84-86 incarnations, even if they are in less than perfect quality. Oh, and I do recall he also mentioned one (or more?) other Revolution albums up for possible release, I think it might have been live releases (?)

Yeah, it was going to be the big Prince album release of the year.
I think PRince wanted a little more involvement from Lisa and Wendy. I remember we where only 2 months away from a release (or something like that) when NPGMC annouced the next album woudl be called "Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic", a recycled title from an early outtake of his. It would have been nice to have heard a Prince album with of the the old Revolution influence on it--but things don't always turn out the way we want.

Prince wanted Wendy and Lisa to produce the album but they wanted to make new music instead. He wasn't interested, but I hear recently the 3 of them WILL do a new album together again. Prince may be the purple Yoda, but Wendy & Lisa and Eric Leeds also sit on the Jedi Council.

Kinda makes me glad I knew little of Prince and his music back then, it almost seems cruel. Damn Prince, he's such a tease!.

I just thought, Crystal Ball / Rave - both old title tracks on new title track albums, plus Roadhouse - he was really on a retro vibe in 1998-99.

It was when he had started to use/discover the possibilities of the internet. With Emancipation/JOTY tour/CB/Truth/Box Set with Chaka etal and some other things. I think he had way too much going on then to even have the time to do this. He has many ideas that he scraps. He also mentioned re mastering all of his back catalog then too. So does anyone actually think there's any chance of Roadhouse Garden being released in the forseeable future?
He performed with Wendy recently so at least they must be on good terms.

If Prince released an album of tracks from the old Revolution days, critics would be saying he'd run out of good ideas and he was acknowledging his best work was behind him. They'd review the album as a bone fide album, rather than something for the fans which is what it would be.

Unless it was only released through the musicology store, but then, I think Prince realises the commercial potential of such a record, and would release it to retail.

Even some of the non-CD musicology store music has been critiqued and reviewed. Anything Prince releases is poured over one way or another, it's difficult for him to do a throwaway album for the fans - I mean, I think the whole reason the NPS album was an 'NPG' album rather than a Prince one was to distance himself from it, so it wasn't taken too seriously, but it didn't work. He'd be better just putting out a Crystal Ball 2, get all this fascination with his old stuff out of the way so that fans are forced to concentrate on the new stuff.
