Where would U file a Prince cd?

It amazes me that the stores here file Prince under r and b soul. I would think he is more of a rock/pop permformer if anying.

Of course, if I had my way I would file him separate section, byhisdamnself!!!

In the UK, high street wrecka stows would regularly file him under r 'n' b/soul music up until the late 80's when he gradually shifted into rock/pop - where he has remained to this day.

When Exodus was released in the UK, there was sometimes a separate section created in r 'n' b/soul for The NPG. However, the availability of the CD was relatively short-lived, and New Powersoul was usually just filed in the Prince (Rock/Pop) section.

(Is this a choice that the stores make alone or are they influenced in any way by the record companies?)

Hey Nep2nes! smile How r u? smile
Well it surprises me too, I couldn't find prince in the store lol because he was under SOUL, I seriously looked under ROCK first.. (I found out that there is a store in DK (Guf) that can get you all you wish)(Except for Bootlegs.. lol )
But I would diffently place Prince under ROCK or POP ..
Ciao Everyone!

In the all encompassing Modern Fusion section (and I'm not talking Jazz Fusion). There is no such section, you say? Well in that case put him in every section except Country, Jazz, and Hip Hop.

He'll fit.

Or how about making all the categorizations obsolete and just combining everything in alphabetical order? So many impressionable eyes need to be opened.

Probably cause his style changed a bit, but then again, it's all a little of everything, so I think he needs a special category for himself.
