Yeah so i say about freaking time on the widescreen dvds, love having all the cherry moon vids, especially anotherlover and the purple rain extras are great too. how bad are dr fink and bobby crying for money that they seem to be the only ones to do lengthy interviews! maybe prince should just pay them already ha ha. god watching those movies makes me feel old! can't stomach watching graffitti, it's just too terrible. only worth it for thieves and joy but man is cherry moon BRILLIANT my girl and i watched it she never saw it before and absolutely loved it. It really took me back to the day I saw it and the entire theatre walked out within the first ten minutes, and i was the only one left laughing my ass off. i guess the "masses" were expecting purple rain 2 and didn't get this one at all. i was glad. I hate sharing artists i love with the mtv world. My friend asked me recently what I think of Outkast, and aren't they brilliant, and I said that Sign o the times is one of my favorite albums too. Nice job COPYING it. I remain unimpressed by pop music. Alicia Keys? PUH-LEASE. Keep it in your diary girl, I'm not interested. I wanted to smack her at the hall of fame with that ridiculous and CORNY speech she gave. What's with that stupid laugh of hers anyway? "THERE ARE MANY KINGS, UH-HUH-HUH-HUH. BUT ONLY ONE UH-HUH-HUH PRINCE. It was like being in high school listening to some horrible girl read her horrible speech and everyone eating it up and I was like THIS IS SO CORNY!!! Which is what drove me to discover Prince in the first place. He is so ABOVE these, THESE COMMONERS, PESANTS, whatever they are. I don't need to see Prince and Beyonce together on stage. She hasn't earned the RIGHT to share the stage with someone as talented as him in my book. PURPLE PAIN.

I don't wanna offend you or anything, but do you like any artist except Prince? Of course, he also is my absolute HERO - but we should give others the right to exist.
I mean, Alicia for example is a mad vocal talent. Her music is quite average, yes, but I still prefer her to some Britney or Jessica sh!t.
And Outkast ... okay, André has really passed the "Prince - inspired" level, but I wouldn't say he is copying. He's still a great HipHop artist (but I assume you don't like HipHop either wink )
I mean, why not have young and popular artists representing the good old musical values and celebrate the master? I like that.

BUT: You are so so right on that one with Beyoncé. I mean, that was sooo unnecessary. If he needs to feature anyone on PR (which I wouldn't say) he should have done it with Nikka Costa or someone on her level. I mean, Beyoncé is played out plastic.

i guess MAYBE you're right about outkast... maybe i'm being a bit too critical. i mean, the greatest form of respect is to try and... i don't know EMULATE your heroes i suppose. I've heard that 'don't want to meet your daddy' line somewhere else... i think it was somewhere on Dirty Mind or Controversy. I am just a big fan of ORIGINALITY. I won't be fooled by some tired ol' rapper taking a lick from a song that was ALREADY a #1 hit ten years ago and rapping on it. And as far as hip hop goes; does it even exist anymore? maybe i'm getting old! I am a huge fan of Native Tounge Hip Hop from Tribe to De La to the Violators to Busta, and I haven't heard a good rap or hip hop song that wasn't either some rehashed 80s track or some B.S. champagne sipping nonsense in over 10 years. Remember De La said, "Ain't got no time for no champagne sippin' MONEY FAKERS." And Q-tip once said, "Rap is not Pop if you call it that we'll STOP." Well, I guess they stopped. I really miss good hip hop like Black Moon and the Pharcyde, really creative stuff. Outkast just seems like poor man's versions of BETTER records released by other artists. I am a dj, and breaking new music- make that breaking GREAT new music is my job. As far as I am concerned, Prince is the only artist that has consistantly released quality music that entertains and rocks a dancefloor for over 20 years. I really am a fan of all music. I just won't be fooled. especially by no Alicia Keys bargain bin cd trying to pull the wool over my eyes that she is a great artist. she'll be over in two years I guarentee it. you want to talk about a great artist? What about Chaka Kahn or Patti Labelle or even Jody Watley? Alicia (UH-HUH-HUH) should enter in her diary that she needs to take her ass back to the vocal coach AND back to diva school 'cause I am not fooled. But I DO understand the business... I've been trying to release dance tracks for years, and it wasn't untill my partner and I did a really "commercial" vocal house track that we got a deal within a WEEK. So I guess i'm as guilty as all these so called "great Artistes" that i love to criticize! So who am I to judge? lol, but still i appreciate your intelligent response. you sound real cool but i can name 500 better 'mad talented' vocalists than alicia keys who are still making music that is relevant today. i've already named three...c'mon don't tell me she's fooled you too! the closest (yet still far away) line to that would be from "dirty mind", the whole "i just wanna lay you down...in my daddy's car" bit.

And as far as hip hop goes; does it even exist anymore? maybe i'm getting old!

it still exists...but you basically have to weed through the muck to get to the goods nowadays.

Under the Cherry Moon was a horrible movie. The Wrecka Stow scene wasn't at all funny. Better, wittier and more meaningful dialogue can be found on The friggin' Brady Bunch. Better acting, too.

The soundtrack was good, though.

I feel what you say a lot ... HipHop ain't all that no more. I'm a big fan of The Roots and Erykah, DeLa is also blazin... the OLD Black Eyed Peas were also cool ... and of course Tupac. Okay, he was already on that money and b!tches - track in the end, but I love his lyrics though.
Know, everytime I listen to some Cassidy or JKwon or Lil' whatever or what those b!tches names are, it makes me think of "Dead on it" wink

"Riding in my Thunderbird on the freeway
I turned on my radio 2 hear some music play
I got a silly rapper talking silly sh!t instead..."

Feel me wink

And talking about Alicia ... sure she's not the first and best soul singer ever and it's very hard to compete with all the legends U mentioned... All I wanted to say is that it's always a comfort to my ear when I hear one of her songs between "Ooops... I screwed up a song again" and
"Skater b!tch" or anything like that ... U understand me?
I know that a lot of artists never get the chance to come out with their really own stuff because it doesn't sell ... it's sad ...
by the way ... how do ya like Nikka Costa? I love her ... I know, "Like a feather" was a Janis Joplin ripoff (LOL) but I still love it ... How ya feel about her?
I'm glad you're not one of those psychos who take every critic as a serious insult ... thanx a million wink I've experienced a whole lotta those fools.
And thanx 4 ya intellegent answer, too smile

Actually, interesting comment you made there. You see, Prince you would expect not to be a great actor because he is foremost a singer/songwriter/musician, etc., but he is a fairly decent actor I would say. Even Jerome's acting was good.

The funny thing is, Steven Berkoff, the already accomplished actor, was absolutely bloody appalling in it! I have never seen such poor, campy acting in my life. It's dreadful, and his entire role should have been edited out of the DVD version. Even Kristin Thomas Scott had some bad moments (but we'll let her off as it's her first film, cuz she's a brilliant actress otherwise, yeah?). And that poor line from Francesca Annis, not that it was her fault for the cheesy script: "Good luck, Christopher [sigh]"!! barf

I think Prince and his merry band are good actors and seem relaxed on screen. Shame about the scripts in his latter films tho!

Well, just off the top of my head, Under the Cherry Moon is a classic love story in which poor boy meets rich girl. Prince plays Christopher, a young musician who wins the heart of a spoiled heiress and incurs the wrath of her dangerously powerful father.

Prince is aided and abetted by his irrepressible sidekick Tricky, played with considerable verve by Jerome Benton. Together they prey on the unsuspecting female population until Prince's heart is stolen and Tricky must fend for himself. UTCM features original music by Prince and is a stylish homage to the great, but tragic love stories of the Thirties and Forties.

I think the 'wrecka stow' thing is something you have to be there to find it funny really.

I like Nikka's cd alot. U can tell when someone really has the right idea. and regarding Alicia; I hear you baby. And about the people you mentioned who go through all the trouble to read your posts only to get insulted and try to flip on you... fuck 'em. Don't let those haters get ya down. they probably just haven't gotten laid in a while (lol). You can usually tell who needs to get their cobwebs cleaned out when they say some bullshit afterwards to try and make you feel stupid. Like some dumb ass responded to my post with a YAWN! which i thought was funny as hell, but not as funny as the fact that they actually took the time to read MY WHOLE SHIT. I think it's cool that people even take the time to read a post and hear what you have to say even if they respond in a stupid way. Ain't nuthin' but a muffin. We gots alotta butta to go!

nutty LOL! Woo-hoo! You get Prince, Hawaii and a ballad between Alicia Keys and the Tiki doll, I'll be the first in line! Oh yeah! And they should also visit a ghost town, too! And then Prince & the Tiki doll and Alicia Keys would get locked up by a crazy old dude and Prince could put a piece of gum on the end of his dick and get an erection, and with his erection he could get the keys left on the desk in the jail. And then they could do the third in the the trilogy where they go to a carnival and ride on rides and the Tiki Doll would accidentally mix up Prince's music with a poster he won playing a game and then Alicia Keys could run through the park in a pursuit to find the music before Prince misses his deadline and can't upload it to the music club! nutty

The possibilities are endless.

BUT: You are so so right on that one with Beyoncé. I mean, that was sooo unnecessary. If he needs to feature anyone on PR (which I wouldn't say) he should have done it with Nikka Costa or someone on her level. I mean, Beyoncé is played out plastic.

General audience: Nikka who???? Beyonce: YEAH, shake that booty.

That's why she was there. Game plan to get Musicology some attention and the concert halls filled. Easy as that.

To Mr. I love orginality: Amy Winehouse you should check out - from the UK, real talent, amazing voice, and great attitude.

To Mr. Beyonce's Booty: thanks and all that. i will check her out. I think i might have something by her already. I think I may change my name to Mr. I Love originality. that's pretty good, that one. Either that or i've been considering changing my name to an unpronouncable symbol.

ok. so i did what you said and i found an island, and like, you were on it! DEAD ON IT. So like you were there picking mangos and talking to a volleyball, and you told me that i should wait for gilligan to get home and you, me, the skipper, the tiki, the professor, Maryanne, Ginger and the Howells all had a big party.

by the by... is this a self portrait? i'm impressed you look a little old to be a big prince fan. or is this who you brought back from your dream island along with wilson lol
