Well, as a matter of fact, Prince thought very highly of the album and so did EMI. The cd was meant to be released in early 1997 but because the label folded during post promo for Emancipation (round the time of the "Face Down" video release) the album was kept on the shelve. Promo copies of the album were sent to a number of critics long before the entire album surfaced as a companion to "Crystal Ball". As was the npgmc retail release of the "Truth/Don't Play Me" double a-side cd single in a limited edition print. He got a vegan award for "Animal Kingdom" (not that it matters lol). And he seemed to touch on some very hard, personal subjects (we all know what) on the album. The lyrics are more introverted and self-explorational than most of the things he did before. Obviously Prince thought to highly of it to just let it die like that and decided to give it away with the "Crystal Ball" package. As a gift, but also as a means of trying to upstage his own outtake set with a sparkling new set of semi-acoustic songs; something he had never tried before on this scale. So NO, The Truth should NOT be voted off!!!!! and true love lives on lollipops and crisps | |
