Question about the music to Power Fantastic

I read somewhere (possibly on here) that the music to this song was written solely by Wendy and Lisa with the words by Prince. Does anybody know this to be true?

I know this to be possibly true, maybe... for a fact.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

In DanceMusicSexRomance, Per Nilsen writes:

"...'Power Fantastic' was included on The Hits/The B Sides collection in 1993, conspicuously lacking the Wendy and Lisa songwriting credit. "The song was mistakenly attributed to Prince", says Eric [Leeds]. "Prince wrote the lyrics for the song, but Wendy and Lisa basically did the music and arrangement"."

The lack of original credit was corrected shortly afterwards at the Library of Congress, where Prince Rogers Nelson / 'Controversy Music' was originally given sole authorship credit. Authorship was amended about 6 weeks later with Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman / 'Girl Brothers Music added to the authorship / claimant register.

The LoC register does not distinguish specifically between who wrote words and who wrote music in this instance (as is most frequently the case) to substantiate Eric leeds' comment about the particular songwriting contributions of Prince, Wendy and Lisa.

Pardon my ignorance as a newbie but what's the best database/resource of Prince music in terms of the real writing credits, the story behind the songs, etc?

Something about the piano in this song... when I heard it I just knew it had to be a Lisa composition.

Probably Uptown's The Vault: http://www.uptown.se/2004...ault.shtml

Regarding 'Power Fantastic', The Vault states: "The song was based on a composition called "Carousel" by Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman. Although Prince wrote new words to the song, Melvoin and Coleman's names are conspicuously missing from the credits on The Hits/The B-Sides"

(Incidentally, like the amended Library of Congress copyright entry, the ASCAP ACE search database shows Wendy and Lisa registered to receive publishing monies through Girl Brothers Music, as well as Prince).
